they made them for canada........ so if you see one that has a left hand steering wheel, that means that car came from canada. they are pretty much useless(thats what i know about them) there is absolutely no room at the back as it is...... and you're wasting your valuable storage space.

Mazdabation 05-14-2003 10:25 PM

Yes they did make back seats for the FD. This was an option for the Japan spec 7 only. You can find them for sale some times on E-bay or in the for sale section here. Try Jason at JT-imports as he can get them also. He acctually had a set for sale not tot long ago.

yes they make back seats but it only came on japanese cars...maybe uk models as well. anyways you could get a set for like around $400 dollars i believe. you need the seats, side panels and all the seat belt hardware. but really if you think about who the hell could fit back there??? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

AHH I dont think this is true.......

I have never seen this option here unless it was done by someone.

Fd3BOOST 05-14-2003 11:20 PM

I know a guy that has them. They are kinda pointless, No way can someone sit in them if there is someone in the front seats.

sandmans7 05-15-2003 02:51 PM

I have a set that I bought from a guy in the UK for $500 shipped. He usually always has more. They are a perfect fit and they look nice. Although they are kind of small, but I got them just so I wont have to leave my daughter behind if I go out with the wife.

I kinda like it. Its different. The tan pic looks way better though. Did they change the cushion/backrest design at some point?

jackdhammer 05-16-2003 09:50 AM

Can they fit a car seat?

twinturborx7pete 05-16-2003 11:29 AM

yes, supposedly in Japan, its rude not to have backseats. Some social thingy... but if you are japanese, you could probably fit in those seats.. haha https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Well here's the thing about the tan seats. Way back in the early dickhead days of the evil forum, there was a guy who posted pics about his back seats. He posted that pic and we all grilled him because those WERE NOT Mazda seats. He swore they were but that they were form Australia or Canada or whichever other country except the Jap and US seats. There was a huge argument about the rear seats, I haven't found these seats anywhere except on that guys car. So, this tells us that they were custom made. Nobody knows by whom, nor will we probably ever. The guy said that the previous owner of the car told him that the seats were OEM Mazda from another Import Country, but in the end we couldn't find out what the deal with them was. I do agree though, the seats look 100 times better than the OEM Mazda seats.

twinturborx7pete 05-16-2003 01:34 PM

not OEM, its JDM get it right y0. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

If you have the right child seat it will fit fine... Kids up to 11 or 12 should also fit no problem as long as they aren't fat...

sandmans7 05-16-2003 05:25 PM

You can fit a child seat perfectly, Ive had it on there since my daughter turned two, shes 5 now and fits perfect.

rfreeman27 05-16-2003 05:30 PM

they do look a lot better then the bins, but if it isnt a child there is just no way https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

charlie boy 06-13-2003 10:08 AM

My dad has back seats in his- his is imported from japan to the uk. the uk cars did not come with back seats, just the little stowage bins. I think it was just the jap 7's badged as EFINI that came with the back seats, i am 20 soon and can just about fit in with the front seat fuly forward. There is not enough room behind the drivers seat (about 1/2 inch clearance) to get anybody's legs in so it is totally pointless. They are nice how the seatbelt clip zips away too.

Those tan seats are not mazda seats, must be a custom set

sandmans7 06-13-2003 06:40 PM

True,

Most car seats fit well, my daughter is 5 and I still use the car seat. I agree that you can fit a child up to 11 or 12 in the back with no problem. Although I fit a desperate friend all the way from NYC to Englishtown back there.
