I'm having bad luck the auto quit Wed I just started the car and was checking the fluid level on the auto and I still can't understand what casued the auto to quit but while running the car I noticed my down pipe was bright red so I shut off the car immediatelty is that normal??? I know they run hot but somethings not right. Could it have anything to do with the auto not moving in any gears sensor ?? Ron

Your cat-converter might be clogged...

with a long straight pry bar and a hammer- you can break up and empty the honeycomb from your downpipe. It is a pain in the ass, but it will work much better. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I know it's not the cat and I already have a downpipe!! Any other ideas?

you are running pig rich and the extra fuel is burning in the DP... I think I heard that somewhere... I could be wrong..

or, he could be running lean, and the exhaust stream is getting very hot; thus baking everything in its path.....turbos, manifold, and the dp as well......wasthe car just sitting while running, i would think that this is the way that you saw it, considering that the tranny is shot?

Yea your cats are plugged.

ue just said that it is not the cat, however, i am also inclined to think that it might be the cat too. put a mid pipe on when you get the tranny work finished....

The car was just sitting when it turned red. I ran it again till it warmed up and it did NOT turn red again. I tried it again today and still normal??STRANGE!! I think it's trying to put me over the edge!!But no matter what it does to me I will never sell it.

your engine could be running very lean. the problem might be your air pump. creating a very lean condition. unplugged your air pump and check your down pipe again.. cheers...
