Ok I installed my PFC today from apexi, perfect to there spec. now my car starts and runs fine but my commander handheld wont do anything.. all it does is turns on and says Apexi and lights up, thats it.. I know I installed everything right cause for one my car is running just as good as it did the day i got her however i cannot change or do anything to my controls?? am I doing something wrong or how do i turn it on to change controls or what my book doesnt say jack about it... help!!

Sounds like you have the wrong commander. For 92-95 commander should be 415-z001. If you have a different one the logo is all that will show and you cannot make any adjustments.

ill check my numbers but, it was giving me info with a bunch of numbers for injector duty and all that stuff then it just turned off and went to say apexi... thats why i thought i turned it off somehow.. cause it worked at first but i wasnt about to retune anything on it, but when i got brave enough that i thought i was going to tinker with it thats what it gave me..

i always thought that the PFC had to be tuned by someone with the Power Writer software thats only available through an Apexi Pro Shop.

thats whats up?? i wasnt aware i thought thats what the commander allowed me to do? i thought it let me make changes to my tune and allow me to see my results?? if its not whats its for then what the heck is the commander for?? regardless I want mine to actually allow me to do something and not just glow green and look pretty when people look into my car... i dont want it to be an intimidation factor i want it to make my car haul a lil more arse!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

Is it a common problem that the wire from the commander to the FC unit gets shorted or anything like that that would cause my commander to act like it does? cause i did crimp the wire in one spot on accident, cause it was working A OK at first then once i mounted the commander to my dash it was done just lights up thats it.. so im currious if that isnt what could have happened?? If so could I take apart my commander solder in new thicker wires and plug them directly into the FC? Im an electrical engineer at john deere in dubuque and davenport iowa and I do work like this a lot on our loaders and graders ecu's and SSM controllers, I just thought it might work for my commander and PFC also.. but I didnt want to open a can of worms if it wont work...?? doing so I will have better thicker wires and i can run the exact length of wires I need and to mount, any thoughts??

check on the connector to make sure the pins arent busted..

or try and grab another commander to verify..

I will check the pins tonight, I cannot grab another commander as I am the only one ive ever seen in my area with a FD and ive been looking for a few years and still people ask me what kind of car it is lol.. even wing warrior honda boys are like what the heck, is that Vtec powered!! lol.. I just grin and smoke um as they burn there NAWZZZZ!!!! ha ha sorry im rambling but really i need to figure this out its driving me crazy!!



Im darn ready to buy the 3m extention cable and splice it into my commander and ditch the stock cable so I will have a brand new cable to mess with and a new connecter if mines bad or broken...

i had a problem with a commander wire unsoldering. my car didnt run while the commander was plugged in though.

mine runs with it plugged in or unplugged so i called apexi and they emailed me a service order form and Im just going to box it up and mail it to them and see if they can't figure it out.. but regardless something has to be up cause i cannot find a thing wrong with it other than that it wont let me do anything... it doesnt even have a scratch on it.. grrr..... I want to up my boost and ditch my downpipe and midpipe before snow falls and I wont drive my car, well i guess I can wait till spring and unleash the beast all built and then all id remember is pretty much stock form....



Ohh yah dont you guys love the feeling of driving somewhere and people just stare at your car, those that dont know what it is and are like what the heck is that, and those who do know are like dude how much to buy it lol, as if its for sale for anything remotely cheap... geesh i love that feeling!!!!
