anyone have a pic of a damaged stationary gear? please post...are there occurences of this part failing among fd owners? i know they were supposed to be the strongest in the fd.

so it loses teeth (bad) and doesn't majorly crack apart or anything. i was just wondering for those that popped their motor and it started shaking like a jackhammer if the shaking was due to a lost seal, or the lost seal being wedged on the side of the rotor, or if missing gear teeth caused the rotor to spin erraticaly out of phase/wrong path. |
id go with apex seals but it would be cool going out in a bumpy blaze of shrapnel would be a cool way to go too

I have yet to see one fail ever and we spin some good RPM's on our engines over here and we've been doing it for a long time on a lot of diffrent cars...

i may have a bad one..
not quite sure if this is the norm as this is my first rebuild.. ill see if i can take some pics.. the top portion of the teeth are beveled.. almost looks like wear.. |
