Has any one tried to run alcohol on any 13brew motor? I was thinking of trying it ? I would if it was any horspower gain...........

Dumbrotorkid 01-04-2003 11:36 PM

u mean the alchohol injection kit?

I mean alcohol fuel over gas........Alcohol injectors, fuel line, and pump..........Its real big to run it here on blown injected big block cars but could it work on an injected rx7 motor or has any one tried it yet?????????

Dumbrotorkid 01-04-2003 11:41 PM

Yes, I've definitely tried alcohol. I like a good gin and tonic. Hope this is helpful

I guess it's too late to post my joke about drinking alcohol.

i believe srmotorsports ran alcohol injection on the first gen that they ran for a long time. it had a 13b-re in it. that thing was absolutely amazing!!!!

it is very expensive to setup a car for alchohol you need twice the amount of fuel injectors and fuel flow for alchohol vs gas.... people tend to break more with alchohol too. most people stick to gas.... its alot easier

Doesn't Alchohol corrode the engine faster also? I herd from someone that it does that.

Cause after you run the car you have to clean everything so it wont corrode.

actually alchohol gets rid of water. why would it corrode anything ?

Keep in mind that Alcohol burning motors are typically stripped and rebuilt every couple of runs...

I think it would be cool to have a "hybrid" system with 2 fuel cells (one for alcohol and one for gas), then just flip a switch and go!! The advantage of Alcohol lies in its "octane." It's very slow burning and produces a very hot combustion.

Alcohol dries out rubber seals, doesnt seem like a good thing unless you can tear down and rebuild frequently.

he was talking about corrosion. i believe alcohol race gas has an additive to prevent drying out of rubber gaskets

Alcohol degrades rubber and contaminated oil. If you want to get wild then give methanol a try. It seems to be the new big thing.
