I've been told that adding cruise to my 93 base is easy. All of the wiring is supposed to be there. All I need is the componants to hook up. Has anybody added cruise before? If so, what is needed and where can I find them cheap?

Thanks

If your car is a base, it should have cruise already, unless its been intentionally removed. The only 93 model that didn't have cruise standard was the R1...

That's what I was thinking. I've looked for any phisical signs of cruise being already installed but there was none. I haven't checked for wiring yet. Is there any way to find out what it came with from factory?

it is easy. there is a vacuum chamber and a few wires that are need to be installed, but they are not difficult. if you look under the hood to the opposing corner as the ABS unit, there should be a small metal mount with a speedo cable coming out from it.....if you do not have one.......you do not have cruise......

as far as finding the parts to get one, you should try you local car sudio specialist. most of them that are tied in with the dealerships do teh add on cruises. well, at least that is how it is here....

My 93 R1 came with cruise, although mine is A Canadian one, when I first got it I thought I got ripped for a fake R1 , cause I read on the forums that 93 R1's dont have cruise, but then I saw other Canadian R1's and they did come with cruise, never got to use it though I ripped it out the first day a got the car,

another interesting thing is that mine is a Mazda Canada 25th anniversary edition model, the original owner gave me the decal that was supposed to be on it, he never put it on, the floor mats have the 25th ann logo as well, I think its just the R1's that are 25th anniversary

that's neat. but uh....25th anniversary? i thought that the rx7 came out in ~78. which would make a 98 a 20th anniversary, so what gives, r am i missing something?

Not really the way to do it, no vacuum chamber, no additional wires needed. Whatever you do DON'T go to a stereo shop and have them install a POS aftermarket cruise.

You can buy an entire used cruise setup for $150 or so from a FD. You need...

on/off switch on the dash

Actuator under the hood

Buttons on the steering wheel (and back cover of wheel)

Computer that goes under dash, left most side, about the size of a deck of cards

The hardest part of installing the cruise is installing the buttons on the wheel and on/off button on the dash. The wiring is ALL IN PLACE.

Jeff

93 R1 w/cruise added:).

I think it may be Mazda Canada 25th anniversary, dunno I really don't see too many R1's over here, and when I do , I really dont think about the 25th ann part- I just thought about that cause mine came with cruise and initially one of my thought's were it may have been the 25th ann part, but I think it's just that the R1's over here came with cruise

r_xplicit 02-16-2003 04:49 PM

oh ok, MAZDA 25th not rx7 25th.....
