Do any of you have any idea of what the problem is with the engine? The needle bounces from 74-80 psi. The engine also floods when it sits for a couple days. Is that a leaky injector or could that in anyway have something to do with the low compression? Thanks, I appreciate your help.

74-80 psi? on the front or rear rotor. if i am not mistaken, and i very well could be, that number is not too bad. i am used to the smaller ones lie 6.5. there is another form of measuring....

if the car is flooding, it could be a number of things, just consult a manual and see what symptoms best describe yours....

rmaiersg 02-05-2003 09:25 PM

well it's 5.1 to 5.5 bar

what's the average cost for a rebuild if you do it yourself? Is there usualy more to replace than the seals? Thanks again

Joe Flo 02-05-2003 09:30 PM

I think I read somewhere the rebuild kit for an FD was like $290 or something like that....I could be wrong though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

r_xplicit 02-05-2003 09:32 PM

ok, that is low.....

racingbeat.com sells a rebuild kit for around ~$1400.00 but that does not include any and all damaged parts like housings, gears that might be worn, rotors, and the like....

you can buy a remanned engine from malloy mazda for like 2400, or so i have seen....

Oh......maybe I got it confused with something else. But I thought a rebuild by a dealer was $1400 and the kit was only like $300. Maybe I am just way way off.......

Joe Flo 02-05-2003 09:36 PM

Yeah I just looked it up...I dont know what i was thinking. You are correct with the price. I would just get a reman. But I am just lazy......

r_xplicit 02-05-2003 10:22 PM

i think that i would buy the reman too. it just does not seem to make too much sense to but the kit, tear it down, find out that your **** is a little banged up, and instead of redoing the focked up pieces, you slap it back together, and 3 weeks later the focker lets go again and you become a rotary hater......
