ok, this may be a really stupid question but i want to soon buy a 3rd gen rx7 and am wondering if ill even fit, id never thought of this until the other day and am wondering if its going to be comfortable for everyday use.

Im a little over 6'' tall and have found my head hitting the roof of some cars in the past but am wondering whether the drivers seat in the rx7 is a low position type like ive found in supras and silvias. thanks guys

I am 6 foot 215lbs and I fit into my FD fine. During racing, sometimes, my helmet does bump the roof a little.

r series will give ya better head room...

By all means, try it on before you buy it. I'm 6' but I've got a fairly long torso, so my head hits on lots of coupes, especially if they have a sunroof. I fit in my T2 (race car), but I'm not sure I could live with it on a daily basis. It's tight! I've driven an FD, but it was a long time ago. They're not big cars, by any stretch.

That said, I still wouldn't mind having one. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I have a friend who is 6'7" and he drives my 7 sometimes when i am sick or tired, or partied out. I have a R1 thou. If you get a R1 or R2 you will be fine.

apexkw 04-07-2004 12:41 PM

yeah bases and r1/r2's have more head room becuase of the no sunroof thing going on. i saw that FEED makes lower position seat rails though if you happen to get a sunroof car.

The FD is tiny compared to a Supra, it may not look that way in a picture when it's by itself, but check this out.

<--- 6'2" 170's regular driving is perfect well ur knees gotta spread for the wheel. but ur helmetmight hit the roof mine just rubs when i sit up straight

I'm about 6'1" and I don't have much problems fitting, and I do have a sunroof. You might have to recline the seat in order to have a helmet on, or you could just remove the headliner and have even more clearance.

Or you could get an aftermarket seat that will sit you in a lower position. To my knowledge, the Sparco Evo and the Bride Artis III will fit in a FD and provide you with a good amount of added headroom.

BTW, has anyone tried to remove the complete sunroof and put a piece of fiberglass, or something to place it? Better yet, has anyone tried to replace the sliding sunroof with a flip-up sunroof?

Yup, I'm 6'!" also and I fit fine. I have a touring model (includes moonroof) so i lose a few inches there. It is very difficult for me to wear a helmet and fit.

Fd3BOOST 04-07-2004 04:40 PM

Again, I am 6'!"

Yeah, I'm 6' also.

At the AutoX I just open the sunroof, then everything fits fine.

I had a friend who was 6'2" and he had a little routine to get in and out of his, but he loved the car anyway. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

Be more worried about fitting under the car, as that's where you'll spend a lot of time also. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
