I have a 1993 R-1 that won't start. It'a getting fuel, a spark but plugs are fuel fouled. Is this common or do I have a problem with the seals. PLEASE HELP!
|
I bought the car not running and a dealer estimate stated it was the fuel injectors, so i changed them and the car still won't run. To my knowledge the car hasn't been running for a while.

The car has very low compression my only idea of why is the seals have gone bad and a rebuild is nesesary. Am I wrong?
|
try the ATF trick, pour atf into spark plug holes and spin the engine, let it sit. then start it up and see if you can still your car from all the smoke you just made... hehe

my fd liiked to flod for a bit while it was sittin over the winter...
pull the plugs all 4 of them pull fuel pump fuse crank engine for like 20 sec let sit repoeat every 2-3 min or do it every now and then and let sit overnight...make shure plugs are dry, or replace them for shits and gigles put em in and fp fuse then give it a crakn it might take a second or 2 but it should hop right up... you have to make shure you get it dry in there, i dd mine overnight...easier to let it sit overnight than pullin plugs like 5times...but im a pro @ changin plugs now :tounge: |
I'd suggest a compression test. If it is compression, the test will save you a lot of wasted troubleshooting and replacing good parts for no reason.
Its not an expensive test, but make sure whoever tests knows how to do it for the rotary. Good luck. |
man I hate it when I never hear what the problem was

flooding?
arent these fuel injected cars? Would think a 93 would be.... |
twin...yea they are EFI, but they still flood when sitting. same with the 2nd gens. if the car sits for a while, injectors seem to leak, causing the engine to flood, fouling the plugs, etc...also if you got low compression, u got problems to...

I've got a 3rd gen that won't start either. It's getting fuel, and spark, and the computer doesnt register any error codes.
It was running fine, then when I shut it off it wouldn't restart. There is a click at the air pump and I think one of the relays on the passenger fender. Has anyone had this happen, and does anyone have any idea what it might be. please email any help to stovetop88@aol.com. I have a machine shop and would gladly reward someone whose suggestions solve my problems. |
