does anyone have any input regarding the replacing of the secondaries with some 1600's and a rail from k2rd? it seems like they "say" that it is a bolt in application. can anyone attest to this. or is there a demon lying in the dark.
would this be a feasible mod say as compared to the swapping of the primaries for 850's. rotary performance wants ~600 for the procedure, which would be more than the 2 new 1600's and the rail from k2rd. i need to know which would be more beneficial for me as geared for the daily driver friendliness. i am ordering a power fc, and need to knwo if this unit has the regulatory ability to control these injectors to suit.... louis |
that's exactly what I have to know too!

1600's and k2rd are NOT a bolt in... you need a FPR, like aeromotive or sx, AN SS braided line and adapters and taps. you also need the datalogit software for the pfc to properly run 1600cc injectors

you see, that is ED ZACHARY what i was looking for. by taps, do you mean that i will have to tap a larger hole, relocate the rail or what else? i am most likely going to go to rotary performance to get the power fc tuned and have the 850's dropped in. hopefully they will not keep me too long, as i am going to drive over to texas to have this done in a single day....

RP sells a DROP IN KIT for 1600's maybe you want this ?

hmmmm.....i am looking into the site right now....

looks good, but awfully pricey. chris himself said that i would be good with the 850 one in the primary location..i am just concerned about the future and fuel, yet at the same time am trying to conserve the drivability and functional 'feel' of the car itself....

The Commander limits you to 1500, but you can enter a higher number with the FC-Datalogit (and it seems to work fine).
To install "1600"s and a rail, you also need to remove the ACV and put a block-off plate there. And use some resistors and install new connectors on the rail for the injectors. I don't think it is a huge deal overall, but there are a number of considerations, and one or more may turn you off to this solution. Another option that I haven't seen anyone mention yet is to have your secondaries enlarged to 1300cc by RC Engineering. This is what I did so I could keep using the stock rail (and the ACV, and the stock FPR, etc). I have heard some people say these aren't reliable, but I have never heard of one failing and many people are using them. At this point, the lack of reliability seems to be just a rumor. Another nice thing about enlarging the secondaries is that you'll know how much they flow. Has anyone had their "1600" injectors flow tested? They are said to really be 160 lb/hr injectors, which converts to 1680 cc/min or so. The exact size doesn't really matter if you tune with a wideband, but the ratio of primary to secondary is important for the ECU to get the transition right (though perhaps 80 out of 1680 isn't enough of an error to make a noticable difference). Anyway, does anyone have flow data for "1600"s? -Max |
