Yes, after putting in new oil cooler and turbo oil lines I have yet another leak. It's coming from somewhere near my oil filter, but it was hard to see at night. I noticed my oil pressure was low. So I pulled over and saw oil shotting out. The funny thing is that the car was running well, and the idle is fine. I had the car towed home just to be safe. The worst case would be a crack in the rear housing. If that's the case then I'll just pull the motor, port a spare housing, and install it. Update: Last night when I stopped I added 2 quarts of oil. I checked it this morning and the level is fine. I started the car up this morning and it was idling at 750 RPM with 16" vacuum AND 30 PSI oil pressure, but with a slow leak near the oil filter. :notify: Now I'm pretty sure it's either the oil filter or the oil filter assembly.

AH! my friend we are in the same boat as u well know. I still can't figure it out! So when u get it fixed tell me what to do, im going to work on it some more tonight. Now u know how scared i was. :wow: ur vac pressure is @ 16? wow mine is @ 19. :p The only scummy part is my oil pressure is @ way below 30:cry:

Vacuum is a little lower with a ported motor. I don't feel like messing with it today because it's raining.

about a week ago I got into the same situation and I'm losing oil like a champ....it started leaking somewhere around the filter and hasn't stopped since....even with alot of light I can't see the damn thing and theres no gushing of any so I'm also thinking that it's the oil filter assembly. If you narrow it down let me know or I'll be removing every thing this week.

I worked on mine for a couple hours today and.....

It will not leak if i drive normal ( under 3k), but if i have fun https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/devil.gif, it will leak. I noticed that the pool on the side housing could be coming from oil being sprayed onto the side housing ( actually on the little plate, protector thingy, that covers up a section between the sidehousing and the tranny, what the hell is it for, i looked down there and didn't know what i was seeing?) and it comes off that and pools up there, i also noticed oil seaping out on one side of the oil filter assembly ( inbetween the neck that comes off the side housings and the thing the oil filter screws into). So in conclusion it must be coming from there, there is no way it could be sprayed from the housings ontop of that plate. But i still thinnk a tiny bit of oil is coming from the side housings. My friends camcorder battery was dead, so tommorrow we are rigging it up and takin it for a spin! And once again there is no leak no matter how hard i push the engine while its not in motion! wtf?

I could see oil seeping out inbetween the rear rotor housing and back plate, where the dowel pin is. So it's either the little seal inbetween the plate and housing, or a crack in the rear plate. Either way the motor has to be pulled. Luckily I have a spare rear housing. So it won't cost me anything, except for my labor. I'll also have to port the rear housing to match my port.



If you really can't find your leak at idle then put the car on jackstands and "drive" it while somebody looks for a leak.

IF it turns out to be a cracked rear plate then it's probably from too much boost. I turned down my boost controller a few weeks ago, but that 93 upper intake flows MUCH better than the TII manifold. That mod alone raises the boost. So if you do it you'll need to reprogram your boost controller.



It may just be the seal because my motor has always had low oil pressure at idle, and it doesn't get to 60 PSI until 4K RPM's. It was like that even before I rebuilt it.

scumy, atleats u have the parts. And the camcorder is too close to be in focus so it didn't work :( . But i was gogin to try the jack thing als, going to try tomorrow now that u mention it. If it was the same problem as u have, what do i need to replace a seal? How much and where could i get a seal from?

The seal is cheap. Mazdatrix would have it. The only catch is that you have to pill the motor to change it.

ok i got it,

well i started experimenting and jacked my car up and had my friend watch for the oil leak, while i "drove" the car. It was so bewildering and puzzling. Oil appeared out of no where on that little plate betweem the side housing and the tranny. I couldn't believe it. So i removed it and saw oil around the edges of it. And when i revved to like 7g oil came spewing out! So oil is leaking from like, im guessing and oil seal on the eccentric shaft, it hits the flywheel is sprayed up and comes out. What is this seal called? im going to start pullin the engine tommorrow good thing i have done the clutch before and my dad is a mechanic https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Im going to have fun though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png . If it's the rear main seal then you DON'T need to pull the motor. Just remove the transmission and flywheel. Then you can get to the rear main seal.

if it is leaking from around the oil filter is is most likley to be the rubber " O " rings on the underside of the base of where the oil filter screw on. remove the oil filter and then remove the base look on the under side and remove the " O " rings and replace w/ new from MAZDUH parts cuppla bucks, this should fix ya right up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
