ok so im coming home from the skatepark, and i stop at 711 for a slurpee. i come out, try to start it, nothing, absolutely nothing. didnt even try to turn over. the battery was fine. i called some friends and neither of them had any idea either. we sat around for a while waiting for a towtruck my mom called, and i tried starting it again, and it started right up. perhaps something electrical overheated?

Check the connection on the starter or the starter itself. Mine did that on it's way out....if you would bang on the starter with something it'd start up fine.
yea id say check the wire going to the coil.
the starter is prob about to die. its just putting in its 2 week notice. sometimes they quit before the 2 weeks is over though
hmmmmm....****. about how much do starters+labor go for these days? im hopin 10....15 bucks...
the install on a starter is real easy, you can get a used one but who know's how long that will last
how easy? the most work ive done on my car so far is change the oil and air filter....

Starter is an easy job
It's likely the starter going out (I know I'm repeating what others have said but that's the case, just to let you know). Disconnect the battery negative terminal Go under the car (jack it up if you don't have enough space). Take the wires off the solenoid for the starter (A negative, positive, and small wire to trigger the circuit) Two bolts to undo the starter. The upper bolt you need to hold a wrench over on the engine side (it's a long bolt). Then the starter is out, replace with new. Installation same as removal |
Ask your Dad or something if you are unsure of anything. All starters are the same essentially. Even if you forget which wires go where, just about anybody who has mechanic experience can tell you where they go.
