well bud I looked and looked. as far as I can tell ya its called a "pressure regulator" I'm sure you'd tell me that by looking at the name it would be obvious that it "regulates pressure" but I have no idea what that doodad actually does. I do know it is not on the non-turbo models, and it sits exactly opposite (and is tied into) another doodad that (if followed long enough) leads to a pulsation dampener, but not sure if that "pulsation dampener" is the one on the primary fuel rail or not, it is in that general area though. (give me a break, I'm looking at very non descriptive pictures in a haynes manual)

I guess I would just leave it alone (for now), put that intake manifold back on, plug that harness into wherever it goes (it looks like it should be pretty accessable when installed) fire that puppy up, then unplug the harness while she was runnin.

if it dies, plug it back in and no one has to know

if it runs, ripper out and plug the hole (jb weld?)

ps

I read the entire chapter (yeah, I can read) on the emission controll stuff, and even though they have a picture of all this, there isnt even 2 words written about it ANYWHERE!!! sorry

Those don't exist on N/As.

I was stripping a TII UIM, and I took that off and welded the hole shut. If you take that unit off, the port hole that leads into the chamber is very tiny. But you'd have to block off the hole or else you'll suffer a vacuum/boost leak.

Now, I'm not as familiar with the TII OEM ECU schematics, but that might be a boost sensor for the ECU, in which case, you wouldn't be wise to stop telling the computer how much boost the engine has. But that sort of thing should be monitored either in the AFM or via a vacuum line to that sensor that mounts on the P/S strut tower.

But that TII UIM I stripped and plug welded that port shut was used on an N/A motor. I had no issues.

You guys are all wrong....

That is the air supply valve,

its job is to raise your idle when you turn the wheels and the power steering puts a load on the engine

Attachment 19923

in other words it basicly isnt important

jwteknix 02-03-2007 02:48 PM

i was right i said it had some thing to do with the idle lol
