Online Specialty tool Rental

IE:

Pilot Bearing puller

Flywheel locks

Engine Bearing Press Tools

etc

The way it would work:

You Pay rental fee, postage and a deposit

Tool is shipped to you, with a pre-paid return address label

You use tool then return it

When tool is received back, your deposit is returned

Any SERIOUS interest?

Are these YOUR tools you are pimping?

Whos tools?

ColinRX7 06-17-2005 11:38 AM

FYI you won't find out about any serious interest, anyone who posts regularly enough to say, yes, I could use that, would probably buy the tool rather than rent it

it's the one-time users that pass through here with 10 posts that would likely jump on the chance to rent that stuff..

Just IMO

Id rather buy that stuff since I would use it more than once

Well depending on price anyways....

What kind of prices?

I'll tell you what, whenever I rebuild an engine, I planned on asking here to see if anyone would loan/rent out the "special" tools, just for the one-time use. But of course I don't need any of that at the moment.

Good idea? yes!

Tessai 06-17-2005 12:42 PM

Why don't you just spam this topic? Sheesh :P.

I second Mr. Baldy.

Semi-serious interest?

I think I have some of that. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

like colin, i would rather buy my own tools, and have them on hand for thoise just in case situations right now the rx7 is my dd and i have no other car so i have to fix it with in hours

phinsup 06-17-2005 03:58 PM

It's a great idea, but to really make money at it you would need to appeal to a larger audience then just the rotary crowd. If you banked specialty tools for a wide variety of cars then you could make some cash.

The only downside I see is that most people don't plan far enough ahead to account for shipping, they pull the car apart on saturday and want it on the road sunday and the figure out they need a special tool to get the pilot bearing, etc... out

ColinRX7 06-17-2005 06:24 PM

Yeah usually when you need the tool you don't realize it until you need it right at that second..

The less experienced swappers anyways
