Finally starting to make some headway into the rebuild of the T2.
I got the exhaust off (thank god for air tools), it's ******* heavy as ****! Looks to the the original exhaust. Glad to be rid of it. Well, once I find an empty dumpster anyway.. http://www.1stoptionmtg.com/rx7/exhaustsm.gif Removed a bunch of excess crap from the engine bay. Working on getting the old turbo out also. http://www.1stoptionmtg.com/rx7/enginefrontsm.gif http://www.1stoptionmtg.com/rx7/enginesidesm.gif Can't wait to get it finished and on the road. Lots of work to do still. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif |
Are you going to take out the A/C system?

It all takes time and all worth it.

I've been collecting parts for this car for about 4-5 months now, here's the list of parts I have waiting to be installed. APEXi GT Exhaust HKS Turbo HKS Manifold HKS Wastegate RE Amemiya FMIC Haltech e6k K2RD Fuel Rail Walbourgh Fuel Pump K2RD Block Off Plates Racing Beat Rear Steer Eliminators MazdaSpeed Coilovers Cusco Camber Plates SS Brake Lines and Clutch Line Manual Steering Rack MazdaSpeed/KAAZ Diff Front Strut Tower Bar Still Need: K2RD Radiator Replacement Suspension Bushings 1600cc Injectors Time Help I've managed to purchase 90% of the parts second hand, either slightly used or puchased and never installed. It's saved me a bunch of money over purchasing them new. Utilizing used parts always adds an extra degree of risk, but I have more time than money. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
looks very good the only thing you don't really need is that mazdaspeed/kaaz diff. i am running a stock S4 TII clutch diff and i haven't broken it!
so this thing is going from stock to beast no in between https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
Nice list! Its good I think to buy all the parts at once and save downtime by removing/replacing a bunch of things at once. The only possible downside is if you have a prob, it could be harder to pinpoint.
That suspension has me drooling.. let me know what you think of the MS coilovers. How much did you pick up the camber plates for and where? |
i've been here in san antonio in the summer and A&M otherwise with no AC, and it hasn't been that bad. come on, think about it, usually the times when you have to drive your car and look good (no sweat), that is usually in the morning when you're going to work and it's relatively cool outside, or in the evening around 7 pm when you're going out to eat/do stuff, and its also cool then.
the weight savings are worth it in addition to the torque strain with the AC running. come on, the AC systems in RX-7's aren't that good anyway, and usually by the time it's actually blowing cold air you have already sweated through your shirt and you've arrived at your destination. |
I wish I would have kept my A/C in. I think that a good running A/C in a FC will keep you pretty damn cool, at least mine did. My friend also has a T2 that he took the A/c and p/S out and put in a manual rack in.. he ended up hitting a curb and messing the manual rack up, so he put his power steering all back on and he still ran the same QTR mile times with the p/S belt off as when he had a manual rack on. so the weight from P/S dosen't slow you down at all as long as you take the belt off when you race. I do have to admit that it looks hella cleaner in the engine bay with out all that **** on. plus if you are running a front mount it could get in the way.

i would suggest using the torsen differential out of an fd. they are fairly bulletproof and a lot cheaper than the kaaz unit
