Well, I had some time yesterday to play with the car. The problem is..it'll crank for about 2-3 seconds..then start run for like a second, then flood out and wont restart(because its flooded)...I have a strong feeling that it is my timing, and rigth as I started to work on that...I had to leave for a night out with the other rx7 guys. A buddy of mine called from TX and I was talkin to him about it, and he said when he installed the CAS on his '91 SP motor from atkins, the timing was not right and was actually backwards..he called Dave at Atkins and he said that they must have installed the gear wrong? WTF...so I hope mine is not the same way, or I'll never figure out my timing! Also, I noticed the gasket wasn't seated tight with my ACV blockoff plate, so I feared air was leaking and that cuased hard starting as well..I took the gasket off and applied some RTF to it...seems to be holding up good now. What else could be causing hard starting?? TPS..CAS? All my vacuum lines are capped on the TB and I have no rats nest, etc...cant figure this **** out...

You have the MAS plugged in? Sounds like that or a bad vaccuum leak, I mean let's face it with rotary if it starts for 2 seconds then quits, no matter what the reason it's flooded.

Rotaryman88 06-28-2003 03:40 PM

Yea, the MAF is plugged in...I think the reason it floods so quick is because the timing is off...like, it sprays the fuel, ignites too late...then on the next cycle burns off what was left over, **** its probably firing the rear rotor when the front rotor should be firing and vice versa! It's annoying,lol...for all I know, the ******* engine is running on the leading plugs "wastespark" lol...

pressure sensor is hooked up?

Rotaryman88 06-28-2003 04:12 PM

Would that keep it from staying running??? damn..lol, but yea..that's hooked up too.

yes, you would have to hold that gas if that wasn't plugged in..

Rotaryman88 06-28-2003 04:28 PM

Good to know. It is plugged in though...maybe it's not getting enough of a reading...i have it T'd w/ my boost gauge and BOV since I have the ACV removed...maybe I should relocate the BOV to another vacuum source....

Where is the pressure sensor located? My rx-7 tries to start and it sounds like it almost startes, but then it just keeps cranking? Also, how do you time these things? I've seen the white mark on the pulley, but there are two of them. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

dose your car gurggle? or dose it just try to start but wont? did you try doing a compression test on her

Rotaryman88 06-30-2003 12:13 AM

Compression is good, everything else is going good...starting new thread to explain, lol https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Houstonderk 07-03-2003 10:41 PM

It doesn't really gurgle, it just detonates like once or twice, then if I hold the gas it does it a little more but it doesn't start.

Remember how we were taking about a vac leak from your injectors, make sure you have the right grommets on there too, I found my vac leak. Primary injectors had the wrong lower grommets on them..

turborotor 07-03-2003 10:51 PM

Are you running stock ecu?

1Revvin7 07-03-2003 11:22 PM

he is

Rotaryman88 07-04-2003 12:47 PM

Yea..I still have the stock T2 ecu in my car(for now)...

...I havent had any time lately to check my injector grommets..revvin, do you happen to have a pic of the correct ones so I could compare?

1Revvin7 07-04-2003 07:24 PM

I don't but the lower primary injector grommets are bigger, and should make a complete seal, while the incorrect ones will not make a complete seal. You would be able to tell by looking at them.

Houstonderk 07-16-2003 12:06 PM

What are these groumeets you are talking about? And i still can not find this pressure sensor.

Each fuel injector has an upper grommet where it fits into the fuel rail and lower grommet where it sits in the manifold or housing (depending on primary or secondary).

The boost sensor if thats what you're talking about should be around the pass side shock tower on the air box side.

Rotaryman88 07-16-2003 05:51 PM

Quick correction though...

The Series 4 T2s will run w/ the pressure sensor disconnected. I just runs rich!
