Before I swapped the clutch and flywheel, the car would idle only after it was fully warmed up, no big deal. Now I can't get it to idle at all. Drives fine otherwise, I just have to keep my foot on the gas.



I set the TPS using the checker lights (my multi-meter decided to stop working recently), and I can't seem to find any vacuum leaks. No emissions or OMP, so I just had to check the 3 lines, all the caps, and the intake pipes. I wouldn't think the intake manifolds would all of a sudden start leaking, last time they were removed I used new gaskets with "non permanent" gasket sealant, and torqued it all to spec (several thousand miles ago).



Auxiliary ports are zip-tied open, the 4 holes for the actuators are plugged with rtv sealant, this I did while installing the clutch. I visually can't see how any air could get in or out of those holes.



What else is there to check?

I can't remember if it helps with idling or not, but you had the tranny out, so I would try that ground wire that comes off there if it's not connected.

Check your throttle cable behind the throttle body--

Adjust your idle screw you may think you wouldnt have to, but damn sometimes that little fucker moves and its the last thing you would check, crank that idle screw in far like til the bitch idles at 3k and then back down slowly, at the bare minimum it will eliminate the screw as being the culprit if it doesnt idle after you tighten it down some..

Ground wire is connected. All sketchy-looking vacuum caps have been replaced. Throttle cable looks fine, operates smoothly, nothing out of place or getting snagged. Idle set screw is as high is it'll go, no difference.

I would try to set the TPS by feel and not with the light method

Do you mean adjust it while the car is running, and see if it changes?

I would also follow the FSM on how to make all the adjustments, I know there is a order you should be doing it all in, I dont have it in front of me right now to tell you but if you follow the way they tell you to make all the adjustments it works out well.

Not to question your skills, but is your TPS plugged in? I keep leaving mine off and it wont idle for more then a few seconds, its the second time ive taken off my IC to find my TPS unplugged and I just shake my head...I get so excited about trying out something new I forget to plug in my TPS every now and then..



Anyways, even with a bad TPS you should still be able to idle, the issue is elsewhere. Is your tach working? Bad coil?



Call me crazy, but I had this similar situation after I checked everything and it was my battery, so I replaced my terminals and took my battery to get checked and sure enough it was bad, once replaced fixed EVERYTHING...

If your battery has been sitting out or if its currently cold in your region it might screw your battery. But then again you wouldnt be able to crank it for too long without it slowing down if you werent holding a charge...hard to tell, but I took my battery and alternator into checker and made them test both, the battery turned out to be bad and when I went home I threw it in and been happy ever since...
