So my 91 NA came without the actuators for the 5th and 6th ports. But they arent secured to stay open. So I want to ziptye them open all the time. I need to know which way is open. Clockwise or counterclockwise? When your looking at them from the passenger side. Or is one turned one way and the other is turned the other way? Please help, THANKS!!!

Please somebody confirm what I'm thinking. So the actuators are vacuum operated so it would make sense that the pull on the inserts. So with that assumed the rear one would be clockwise and the front one counterclockwise. Somebody help. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

yeah the actuators suck em in

Seriously, just pull the mani off and remove the sleeves. A lot of people will argue that the sleeves arent good for flow anyhow, and if you dont even have the actuators then you should just pull them.

Thanks for the help. I was thinking about pulling the inserts. But also thinking about getting actuators. Not sure which way to go. When I manually turn the aux. ports off there is definately a noticable changes on bottom end. So working aux. ports could be really nice. Thanks again, from a rotary FNG. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

unless you can take advantage of no sleeves (ecu, GOOD exhaust) then you're loosing like 20hp under 4500 rpms...

JB weld them. Zip ties are no good.

I had no actuators so i took everything off.

I left my selves in and, there is no power under 3k.

I was thinking mechanics wire not zipties. JB weld, I really try to steer clear of. So about removing the sleeves I have a racing beat header, single cat and unknown cat back. ECU? Reflashed? What can and should be done to it? One more thing what is the quietest yet still free flowing exhaust to put on with the racing beat header. I was going to gut a cat (i'm in cali) and redo the rear exhaust cause its to loud for me. So what is the quietest yet still free flowing exhaust to put on with the racing beat header? Anybody every try electirc actuators? Not an electric air pump driving vacuum actuators, but straight electric actuators hooked up to an rpm switch. Any thoughts would be great. Did I mention that I love this RX-7 already. What a blast! Thanks to all that responded and to those that care to enlighten me further.

racing beats the best exhaust for balance of noise and power. but with a header everythings gonna be loud.

i hated having mine wired open, just such a piece of **** down low.

but before that, they were stuck closed and that was worse. pulled like hell down low then just died off up top.

i use a RB header modified by Mazdatrix using exhaust back pressure to accuate the 6 port sleves on my streetported GSL-SE (also use the Pineapple Racing sleve inserts). i'm happy with the results https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif
