I want to max out the stock turbo for now. Untill i have enough $$$ to get the biggest turbo possible. So will a bigger fuel pump; most likely a walbro; will that handle my fuel neccesities? which brings me to another question. Im going to get a FMIC, a kit, which ones do u guys reccommmend? I want one that i can use with the stock turbo and later on for my big turbo upgrade. I heard the greddy one is nice. What do u guys think?

I think the walbro is good up to 400 - 500 hp. How much power do you want to make? Make your own FMIC kit. You'll save $800 - $1000. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png If you don't want to, I've heard good things about the Greddy kit.

Yes the pump will help but it won't allow you to go above 10psi safely. You see the weak link in the fuel system of a second gen are the injectors. If you increase boost too much you will exceed the max duty cycle of the injectors. Which means not enough fuel at higher boost. My suggestion is to get bigger injectors along with the fuel pump. You will need bigger injectors for the turbo upgrade anyway.

so 720 secondaries should be able to handle the stock turbo right? Guess i will have to talk to some shops about the intercooler piping.

Go get an NPR for a FMIC. Then have a shop do the piping for you

While we're on the topic of fuel, can anyone tell me what size the flexible hoses running from the fuel filter to the engine are? For an '88 T2. I want to replace my fuel filter, and I want to order some nice hose. Should I get the stainless braid stuff?

I think it's 5/16".

vosko 07-26-2002 01:53 PM

i'm 99% sure its 5/16

Is the stainless braid worth the money, or should I just get the plain ol' black rubber stuff?

1Revvin7 07-26-2002 04:35 PM

on summit the stainless, is cheaper than just plain rubber. I have all mine done in SS, im pretty sure it was 5/16.

i used plain old rubber hose. if my car goes the way i want it to.... i'm gonna be using a sump and external fuel pump and ss braided fuel line from the tank to the fuel rail. that won't happen for atleast a year though. my FD already has that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
