im not completely retarded, but i cant even tell if my car is turning over or not. it seems as if my starter isnt engaging. i tried removing the air filter and spraying starting fluid with no luck. it doesnt fire at all. i had an 83 (i now have an 87) and it used to flood itself and i havent pulled the plugs yet to see but i was just wondering if there was anything else that would cause this. rotaries are so quiet when cranking i cant tell. it was running fine when i parked it. it really nice out today and all i want to do is drive my 7 with the sunroof open https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Dude, how is your rx-7 quiet? That is crazy. Mine is one loud banshee. She lights up the whole neighborhood with exhaust fumes and smoke and noise when starting. That is good smoke though.

when cranking the engine its quiet, "when" it does fire its loud, but since its not firing, a rotary is pretty quiet because of the low compression. i live next to a highway, so its not overly loud, but enough background noise to make it hard to tell if its indeed cranking or the starter is just running.

Oh, I see. So every now and then it starts? I am guessing check your plugs man.

go ahead and check your plugs and BTW u said u took off your airfilter and sprayed starting fluid..where? in intake ducts or throttle body?

i just pulled off the air filter cover, pulled out the air filter, then sprayed it up the intake tubing.
