I know that s4's have less power, but weigh less. S5's have more power, and weigh more, but were faster when they were new.
What's confusing is that s4's are typically faster, at least from what I've heard. Why is that? |
less wieght, and the s5's arent that much more powerful (15hp? and 200lbs)
mike |
Yeah, but s5's were faster new.
they arent that much slower either
last time i checked S4s were slower... my s5 TII took a S4 TII with ease... and he had a resonator instead of a cat... i had a cat
My S4 took an S4 with ease too, so that means they're all the same. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif
stock for stock, mod for exact same mod. a S5 should be faster. all other things being equal. S5's have nicer interior, higher redline. lots of other stuff https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
Yeah, I do like my s5 a lot more than my friend's s4
The fastest stock Fc was an s4 T2. 0-60 in 5.4, read that in a magazine, maybe it was road and track, some japanese model. I have always heard that s4 n/as are faster than s5 n/as too.
i kept up pretty good with chainsaw's FC (s4&straight pipes) and i got a vert..i think it a myth..i have killed SE s4's many times
i have never seen a TII run 5.4 seconds 0-60 stock
its more like 6.6 seconds!!!!!!!! did they do 0-60 down a hill ?? LOL |
yeah, I think s4 tII did it in 6.7, and the s5 in 6.5. No way it would break into the 5's though.
I agree that getting into the 5's is impossible stock, even when they were new. But lets do the math
86-88 n/a: 2,625 lbs |

And yes that s4 t2 did 0-60 in 5.4, its hard to swallow but true, and i have confirmed it with several other ppl. |

[/quote] my TII when it ran 13.7 @ 100 did 0-60 in the mid 5 second range. so you are telling me that a bone stock car with alot less power than mine and that does the 1/4 in 1.2 seconds slower can pull the same 0-60 ? FD's can do 0-60 low to mid 6 second range. physics say NO! |

was it stock ?
i have an old article i'll scan when i get home...
road and track test: 89T2 1/4 mile in 14.6 and i think they had it do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds... |
that doesn't make sense though. a FD has 255 hp and does 0-60 in 5.2 and the 1/4 in 13.0-13.5
oh well what i do know https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png i only timed my FD and my TII LOL |
hehe...yeah i dunno man...just going by what i saw... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
some things are just weird i guess... a stock supra will beat an FD in the 1/4 (generally speaking)...but probably has a slower 0-60 time |
actually...that didn't really make sense...lol
a MKIV supra does 0-60 in 4.8 seconds i think. even though its as heavy as a beached whale i think they are underated from the factory https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
Its tough to compare cars 0-60 times to quarter mile times because of gearing and wheel spin, etc. Who knows what kind of 60' times that TII got that had the mid 5 0-60? And some cars like the Supra have insane top end through the traps once you get its heavy ass moving. I think trap speed through the quarter is a better indicator of overall power to weight....
theoretically my FD has a 0-60 of 3.2 seconds or something. when i launch it on the drag strip LOL
heheh, is that with slicks? jesus!
drag radials. when i get slicks its gonna get even faster. that was with a 1.70 60 FT. i want to see if i can a 1.4 60 FT on slicks hahahaha

That's great for drag radials. I don't see why the slicks wouldn't get you sub 1.5 60's... providing the diff and axles can handle it!

diff and axles are upgraded. the car will be drag raced but not twice a week like i have been doing lol |
the aerosmith-themed "rockin roller coaster" goes 0-60 in 2.8 ....that's the only time I've experienced speed like that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

I know why, cuz that **** in magazine is BULLSHIT!!!! they probably had some drag racer PRO driver do that fc time, im postive, and yes it was bone stock.
really?!, LOL
I don't rust road and track. Motor trend is my source. It seems that, generally, road and track is slower, but a couple cars are faster than motor trend. I think they are biased. They had a Mustang Cobra beat a ZO6, and that's just wrong. According to everywhere else, a ZO6 would kill a mustang Cobra.
Ive beaten the other NA S5's ive raced with equal or more mods so I think the weight difference is a big factor.
