Hi

now i herd some people run Marvel Mystery Oil in there gas and other people say that stuff is horable for the motor. just wondering dose it really help the motor or destroy it or what? how many of you guys are using it? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

well, its a "top end lubricant" you're spposed to add a little to the gas tank on a piston powered engine to give you a warm fuzzy. if you put some in the tank on a rotary engine (with the OMP still intact) I couldnt see any harm (or benefits) associated with its use. I think the worst case scenario would be fouled plugs and some extra lubrication, but I wouldnt put some in my tank and remove my omp and call it premixing either.

MHO: either way, I think this **** is as worthless as a tits on a boar hog. (or a ford mustang)

back to my bottle of crown...

If you want a premix use something designed for it. Redline racing 2stroke oil for instance. I would NOT trust my seals to anything with "Mystery" in it's name. Not a bad air tool lube tho.

KompressorLOgic 03-15-2007 01:36 PM

my freind matt used marvel mistery oil as premix for over 30K miles with no problems at all actually.

but personally Id just stick with 2 stroke for premix though.

I think MMO is a decent product... but its a lot like chicken soup and the common cold.. nobody really knows if it works, but it couldn't hurt.

But, it is NOT a replacement for premix.

I bought my 1991 NA with 147k miles on it... the guy said he had used MMO in every tank since 1996. The car at 147k ran AWESOME, burned no oil/coolant, and had TONS of power (well.. stock power). I just pulled the engine apart to port it and rebuild it and everything inside it looked GREAT. Rotors had almost NO carbon buildup, the sides weren't black at all.. still metal colored.. The housings were okay too... but, at 147k... thats just fate I think.

So.. did it help? Who knows.. probably not. But when people ask if they should use it.. I say "why not".

Edit:

back to my bottle of crown...

Crown is the tits...

Leetheslacker 03-15-2007 10:04 PM

only ballers can afford to premix with crown.

My premix is actually made by a tibetan monk, he refines it from whale oil, at Area 51.

Being in the marine sector a bit I've read and talked to all kinds of people about two strokes. About the only thing I have been able to confirm is the difference between cheap 2 stroke oils and pricey is basically nothing.

i honestly believe you'd be best off to drive down to your local boatersworld and buy the cheapest 2 stroke oil you can get your hands on, you'll save some money and do yourself a favor.

That said, I have used MMM and it does help clean out a carb (again in two stroke outboards) but other then that i can't testify as to it's miracle.

I should prolly also add that i despise adding any of the aftermarket crap to my oil and fuel, it's a waste of money, none of it meets the promises they make on the bottle. It's right up there with your "penis enlargement pills" as far as i am concerned.
