I already have a 2.25" straight single pipe from the manifold back. the problem is there isnt a hole to put in the split air pipe. do i need to put the split air pipe welded on it or what?

i had it welded on after the RB header. My secondaries still functioned perfectly...thank god for that! i had a friend who had an 89 with a similiar setup but wired open his secondaries, and i would beat him. I personally would never wire the secondaries open.

So i gotta get a hole drilled in the exhaust pipe and weld the split air it? Where should i do it at? nearer the header the better?

i think racing beat sells a flange for it so you can have it bolt on just like a stock setup.

well does it absolutely, positivey have to be put on?

On a S4 NA it has to be on to make the aux. ports open up. Unless you make them up a different way, such as using the air pump, or servos.

You can always wire your 6 ports open. However, doing so will cause you to have less overall power ( area under the curve ) and will result in a slower car. |
not necessarily a slower car, but your bottom end will be pretty bad. Top end will be about the same, and you will have horrible gas mileage.

Cut a hole, and weld it on after the header. Doesnt really matter where, just as long as it isnt on the header itself, it should have pressure from both ports... |
Even if you have to spend the $30 or less to have some guy drill the hole and weld it on there, I'd say it's worth it.
