same as topic. Where is a strong area to jack these things up? Is there anything you can do to maybe strengthen the bottom of the car so its solid? it seems where ever you put the jack something bends.

i forgot where it says. but for the front, they say the subframe. and for the rear is at the pumpkin. but a lot of people disagree.

Factory spots are on the side rails by the doors. Cant think of good way describing the area.

the jack and stuff says to jack it up on the ridge that runs under the sides of the car. its strong right in front of the wheel wells, ive always jacked it up there and never had anything bend

only problem i ever had was when the car fell off the jack and the jack dented the drivers fender at the bottom. Not the factory jack and i was in a garage with slick floor so it just slid.

pinchweld. wish i could jack it up through the pinchwelds. but the previous owner/s f**ked the front ones up.

i use the diff and the front subframe, seems to be the best spot for it

I use the diff, the front subframe, the tow hooks, the rear subframe mounting points, and a spot at the front where a cross brace thing intersects with the side rail thing, it seems real tough right there.

I have a 6" x 14" piece of 3/4" plywood bolted to a floor jack head.

With that, I can jack most anywhere.

It's also good for handling a tranny.

Yeah if you can get the %&#*&$ jack under it. Usually if I'm going to jack the front of the car up I wind up jacking up the rear and putting jackstands in to get clearance.



I need a set of ramps.

I love the ramps. Cheap, and incredibly effective. And I consider them WAY safer than jack stands.

I ran into the same problem as you guys in the front, I can fit a low profile jack underneath it, but actually being able to jack it up, is another story. And if you put the jack on just any part of the frame rail there is a chance of it bending, especially if it's been weakened by rust and salt in the northern states.



If you notice under the front fenders, on the frame rail, there is a piece just inward of where the fenders bolt that has about 3 layers of sheet metal, then the frame underneath that. That's where I jack from the sides now, and haven't had any problems with bending it up, and the extra sheet metal seems to support the weight just fine.



For a quicker option I'm probably going to make my own wooden ramps out of some 8"x8"'s or something, and have them be about 6' long so the ramp is very gradual so my tires will hit the ramp before the front bumper does.

yeah, that's what I was trying to describe. I always rest the jack stands there.

I made ramps out of 4 2x6's standing on the edge bolted together with threaded rod. I cut a block and nailed it the the end so you couldn't drive off the ramp. The front lip on my S5TII just clears and I can drive up on them.

For jacking, I use a sizzor jack under the frame rail as far front as possible, raise it slightly, then put the floor jack under the front crossmember to raise the rest of the way.

The rails are where you are supposed to Jack. There are more layers of sheet metal located there.



The Ramps...I guess I am getting fat because the ramps dont get the car high enough for any real work to be done. Plus they slip out as you try to drive up on them.



If you jack the back up enough from the rockers the front will raise as well!!
