Well, I just finished driving a buddy of mine's '91 T2...it has NOTHING below 4K RPM! It's been dynoed and is way lower in the torque range then it should be, but we can figure out where the torque went? Maybe compression? But its a newer motor w/ 10K miles on it...the TMIC seemed too hot also...what would cause this low torque feeling? And dont say..cuz its a rotary..we're talking almost 50lbs less torque on the dyno then usual! suggestions....?

BTW...the BOV was extremely too quiet too, but the boost guage was reading 9-10psi all the time...it has a makeshift boost controller that he bought from a company up north...dont know if this makes a difference...

does it just have "nothing" below 4K...and then the boost kicks in and its more than you bargained for? Or is it nothing and then a gradual something...

check the codes?

you probably have a bit of a boost leak somewhere

check injectors too... if they are dirty/clogged it can hurt low end torque.

Well, the intake is brand new(APEXi), hi flo cat has 10K miles on it..but he did mention that he'd like to get a testpipe and see if that helps...because when the new motor was put in, he was running rich and still is somewhat..so it's possible the cat already has some clogs. The boost didn't seem to far off par, it built up strong...but only crept up under 4K...maybe its a WG problem? Compression will be checked shortly..injectors shouldn't be clogged as they are brand new 720cc...and I guess we'll have to go check out the timing too...I'll let you all know.

I'd guess with 720s he is running way to rich and that is killing the power. does he have a SAFC, or something like that? Has it been tuned for an optimal A/F ratio?
