If you change just the bearing and use a beat up (wear and chatter marks) 180K mile race, is there a chance the bearing could bind/seize? How about if they weren't pre-loaded properly?

Just make sure you dont lube it and you'll be fine, the grease atracts dirt and we all know what that can do to your bearings.

Yes, and be sure not to run any oil in the engine, since pumping that thick fluid robs horsepower and gets the engine all yucky inside.

I'd better write all of this advice down so I don't forget any of it.
