I'm just curious who in here actually does drag race their RX7? What was your best time, and what mods did you use to get there. After my GTX is in, I'm hoping to get into the low 13s....

15.987@86 with my gtu with headers, hiflow cat, and intake.

i know you want to know about T2's. my friend carlos ran 13.7@99.99 with haltech, stock turbo, bigger injectors, full exhaust, sort of upgraded turbo, i think that's about it.

I got screwed on the turbo, i have a gn-t3 upgraded compressor.



I have a bad traction problem off the line, a lot of wheel hop. Must be the worned out lsd and the hard tires I have. I've been thinking that my springs have something to do with the wheel hop.



Next upgrade will be the lsd and a front mount. Intake temps are almost at 200F with the stock IC.

my best was 17.2. :newlaugh: But my 7 didn't have anything done to it yet. Now I think that I would run mid - low 16's. God damn it, why did Mazda have to make the vert so damn heavy? A bum tranny has kept me from drag racing, and seeing what ET's I could do. In Jan. or Feb I'm going to swap in a TII tranny (It has shorter gears) and 9.5# flywheel, and Go all TII from the tranny back, and put in 4.30 final drive. That should bring me ET way down, I hope.

BTW...I ran a 17.3 completely stock last year. That was with a .65 RT I think...I had clogged exhaust, and a slipping clutch...before my motor blew, I had a few more mods, but I didn't have time to run :( If I get the LSD put in w/ the other stuff thats going on my car, I'm hoping for a really low, and consistent, 13. Do all the LSD have the 4.3in it or just the TII. And if so how could u tell if u have that?

Ok good, i got the LSD, are bigger numbers better? Do they sell any aftermarket ones??

Well, the bigger numbers normally give you bigger accleration, but you lose top speed in each gear. Also, there are aftermarket ones...KAAZ makes very nice high quality ones that will drop your 1/4mile time an easy second or more. They are about $700 to $800 though. Are you sure that the GTUs was the only 4.3? I could have sworn that 89+ T2s had them too! Oh well...

you can get an after market LSD like the kaaz but that won't change the ring and pinion. you can get a 4.33 , 4.77 whatever you want the higher the ring and pinion the better the acceleration but lower top speed

Here in America the 4.33 was only available in the very rare GTUs. Just about all 5 speeds have 4.10, except the 88 vert, they put the 3.909 in there. The 3.909 is what came in the auto :frown:

Well according to Rx-7.com only the turboII in Japan had the same 4.30 as the GTUs in US. But they are saying its your final Drive gear, not your differential, the last gear in the tranny, I'm not saying u guys are wrong, but what wrong here? And also how would i put that in my tranny, i know they are extremely hard to work on. ??? you are getting confused here. the ring and pinion is in the differential in the rear of the car. this has nothing to do with the transmission. final drive gear aka ring and pinion in the differential.

when i drop the clutch in my gtu at 7k it squats and leaves to 10ft strips with open diff. takes some finessing but you can get two strips sometimes. can't wait to install new suspension and LSD https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

my car has been out of commision for quite some time now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png but the last time i ran it i ran a 14.9... that was with bonez intake, no cats, removed AC, and I hit fuel cut because i hadn't bought the FCD yet (6,500 was my cut).... as soon as I get my e6k in (piece of crap haltechs has to be behind on orders when I order the damned thing) I'm hoping to have my problems fixed and be running (hopefully!!!!) high 13s....
