english mutha fucka do you speak it? lol nah jk https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
A guy I know sparks a blue flame from his left exhaust tip on his 86...crazy **** |
there are a few ways, first you can remove your cats and most likely youll shoot some flames out of your rotary, also you can put a spark plug in your exhaust
|
either way its gonna reduce the life of your exhaust by alot

A few months maybe. Don't just gut the cats. All that popping and backfiring will blow up your exhaust. Trust me.
|
When it happened, it felt like the backend lifted up into the air. There was that much force. It was loud. Much, MUCH louder than you can imagine any noise coming from a rotary ever. Then all I heard was the plinking of metal leaving the back of my car. Parts of the canister were blown across the road.
|
crap, that stinks. maybe your exhaust is too rich.
|
lol ........nice cans man....maybe some body makes a thicker walled muffler for that problem

umm, I am not entirely sure why removing emmissions would reduce your exhuast life by very much, I imagine most everyone on this forum has no cats, myself included, and I don't think I have heard of this happening before. Maybe if you are running so rich that there is unburnt fuel being sent into the exhuast, building up, then igniting, but that is a Massive tuning problem, not a normal backfiring problem. if you completely open up your exhuast (true dual, or the like) then you will most likely shoot flames out of your exhuast pipe, assuming your car is running rich (most 7's do, it is dialed in from the factory)
|
i have gutted cats but i still dont shoot flames, i think you may need to have custom exaust. or at least i do.
man, i sure hope i hope i dont blow up my new HKS Dragons https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png keegun |

I don't know about you guys but around here its hell illegal for anything to be shooting
out of your exhaust. And being in the country where it gets dry in summer its just irresponsible to have something like that on your car. Even parking an rx-7 on hot a hot dry front lawn can start a fire. Spending money on something that will decrase the lifespan of your exhaust and not making any more power or gaining more reliability as a result just seems like a waste of money for me if you own this sort of vehicle. If you go ahead with it, spend an extra $50 and get a fire extinguisher too. |
the easy way is to remove your cats and use a test pipe where the cat was the richen you fuel little by little you dont want to do it to much it gets annoying...I got pulled over in San Francisco for that when I went there to get option videos at the japan center.
|
mine shoots flames, saw it in person when it's on the dyno.
the previous owner did a straightpipe setup with only mufflers at the end, hence the flaming action let's hope I don't blow up my muffler like th picture above |
if you have an n/a...all you need is a race pipe (bonez perhaps) and an N1 catback...tons of flamage :bigthumg:
|
I've never had cats in any of my rotary's and have never launched a fuggin muffler or the back of the car. fact of the matter is rotary's are hard on exhaust, are the harder without cats on exhaust? Probably a little, but you are talking about cutting 5,000 miles off the life of the muffler, not years. That muffler was going to blow no matter what, no cats may have made it happen a few days sooner, but either way that bitch needed mufflers.
|
i had stock mufflers and catback on my TII 99% of the time i owned it!!!! never blew one up like that. at one time had upgraded turbine etc. i shot some nice couple of foot flames too https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

mine won't flame at all, is it running lean?
|
mine is flaming now......this **** is awesome...matter of fact, i piped some woman in a white taurus today;)

I am not sure exactly how you got the imformation that "removing the cats doesnt make power" I never mentioned anything about cats, i'm just saying that having flames shooting out the back of your car won't really be beneficial to anyone. My car is fast, i use it on the track and the street and its completely legal. I don't have to worry about the cops looking under the car and finding gutted cats and all sorts of pollution **** missing off the car, no to mention lighting up the car behind me whenever i put my foot down. I always thought modifying cars was about improving performance reliability, and safety- not setting fire to people just cos it looks cool. |
haha your a looser https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

when you put a aftermarket exhaust on or hallow out your cats, you shoot flames when you run rich (i.e redline, downshifting at hight RPM's) its easy to do.
