1987rx7guy 10-15-2003 09:48 AM

Does your car run hot?

4RotorRocket 10-15-2003 12:57 PM

Sometimes

vosko 10-15-2003 01:01 PM

i like the fluidyne but a KOYO is sitting in my old T2

djgiantrobot 10-15-2003 02:02 PM

the best radiators are made by ron davis, then the k2rd, then all the stock sized but slightly thicker units. I question though since you live in detroit and its almost winter, is this a necessity right now? I have a 71 degree thermostat in my car and as soon as the temp dropped this year it almost runs too COLD.

j200pruf 10-15-2003 02:29 PM

I think that he isn't planning on driving the car during the winter.

Nemesis 10-15-2003 06:25 PM

I emailed them today, waiting on a response. I'll post it when they respond.

djgiantrobot 10-15-2003 06:43 PM

unless you have having something custom done, all the mazda apps for ron davis are handled through AWR Racing at 760-598-9783, ask for Tony or www.awrracing.com

rx7freddie 10-16-2003 12:58 AM

what about a 3row frist gen rad for 200 from mazdatrix ?

adamlewis 10-16-2003 06:39 AM

Im partial to the Koyo

HIMNI RACING 10-16-2003 11:23 AM

I very happy w/ the KOYO aluminum racing rad. My car can sit & idle, on a hot FL day and never go over 180ish. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

FrestyleFC3S 10-16-2003 12:53 PM

my koyo rules..... only thing i can complain about is that it needed some modification to fit into the stock brackets

Nemesis 10-16-2003 01:21 PM

email reply from AWR Racing...

There are two styles to choose from depending on what your after. The first is a direct bolt in unit standard flow and costs $489.00 and the second is a crossflow unit that requires additional mounting brackets and hose changes. the cost for this is $450.00 plus $150 for hose kit.

was that cuz of the radiator or nother problem with the car? waterpump? thermostart? air in the system? or is he actually having a problem with the radiator?

Even a new stock radiator should be able to cruise comfortably on the highway if everything else is in working order. But if something else isn't up to spec then no amount of radiator is really going to help you.

I think im gonna try the Fluidyne

djgiantrobot 10-16-2003 06:36 PM

I ran mine this summer with the stock radiator and a front mount in 95degrees plus and it would get hot while boosting by i could always cool it back down just cruising. I'm definately concerned as i always heard great things about this radiator and was planning on one myself.
