GT Spec Mufflers are our flagship line of exhaust systems. These race-bred exhaust systems were engineered to handle extremely high-horsepower applications. A'PEX is the only company in Japan to own and operate a 95mm (3.74 inch) mandrel pipe bender at this time. We proudly incorporate this 95mm piping on select applications to offer exhaust systems unmatched by any other manufacturer. Pipes for the GT Series are designed with minimal amount of bends and the canisters project at an angle like the N-1. The GT Series pipes and canisters are constructed of polished SUS 304 stainless steel. The 115mm polished tip give the GT Spec Mufflers an aggressive, yet refined style. All GT Spec Mufflers include the Super Silencer, which can reduce noise levels by up to 7 decibels. In the N-1 Endurance Race, efficiency is everything. With that in mind, the N-1 exhaust systems were born to satisfy the want for quick throttle response and to effectively handle the rigorous demands of high-horsepower engines. The pipes were engineered with the aid of sophisticated CAD systems to develop the straightest possible lines and least number of bends. The straight-through canister projects from the car at an angle, which helps smooth the exhaust flow. The canister is built from SUS 304 stainless steel and features a 115mm tip with aggressive style. The Super Silencer is included on selected models, which can reduce noise levels by up to 7 decibels. The N-1 Series Mufflers are available for both NA (naturally aspirated) and turbo-charged cars. |

no...the sizes of the piping is different.... 3" (n1) vs. 3.74 (gt)

Correct me if I am wrong but both are "CAT BACK" systems intended to be used w/ a stock cat so the front flange (cat side) is 2.5" to match the cat diameter.
I bought the N-1 thinking I was getting a true 3" cat back and was bummed to find the fron pipe flange is 2.5" not 3" to match my mid pipe. Is the GT spec a ture 3" cat back?? The N-1 is not. |
They are both heavy pieces of junk. My Gotham Racing exhaust only ways 11 lbs. My old Apexi GT weighed 40 lbs or more.

To do it over again I would get the Corksport one. $300 and well built.
Where does one get a Gotham Racing exhaust? |

Personally I have sold a SHITLOAD of the Borla's for both the FC and the RX-8 and had very positive feedback. Price wise it's cheaper and quality wise it's just as good, but that's just my opinion.
|
I know this sounds dumb but I always associate Borla w/ V-8's.
|
They make a pretty good product, especially for the price and as far as I know right now they are the only ones with an exhaust for the RX-8

Looks like a 5Ziegen. The GT Spec is all SS, while the N1 is carbon steel at places

Does it matter which side it exits?

Carbon Fiber with a titanium tip. Sounds great, especially when accelerating/decelerating.

I see they have the HKS Carbon Ti for FDs, so I'm assuming thats what you have. I know they don't make that for FCs, so I guess I'm outta luck. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

I can't seem to find that exhaust on their website. Do you know the piping size/material, price, and most of all is it loud? Thanks

that 5zigen is going to the left dude. im thinkin you saw an exhaust on an rx7 by now, so imagine that resonator at the end attaching to the cact(or test pipe). i think michrx7 was just messin with you when he said flip the picture. cuz if you do thanit would go to the right. but those hangers are setup for the left side and it looks like it would be slanted a little. i see if i can find a pic of one on an fc
|
by the way i have the CS catback. dont know how much it ways. but they do say it drops 36 pounds from stock. sounds nice and aggresive with a deep growl gets quieter in the top end, not ricey or metallic sounding at all. my setup is k&n,header, magnaflow cat, and this catback. the silencer will be helpful though. ill put it in pretty soon

i like my gt spec.. it does the job.. but they step the tubing to much. i.e 2.5" from the flange to the first muffler. then it's 3" and then it steps to 3.74" I suppose there are some kinda flow dynamics that require that.
|
pic before i installed it. I didn't find the exhaust to be that heavy.. i installed it by myself.. course i looked like a monkey holding it up under the car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
|
u have ne clearance issues with that? looks nice. they only thing that i dont really love about my CS is that it sticks out a little much. almost sticks out past the middle part of the bumper where it comes out the most.
|
The exhaust is the lowest point of the car, so it might scrape.
|
I haven't scraped mine yet, but my springs are sitting in my closet so I'm still at stock height at the moment so it could. Just depends if you realize you have to drive at angles over dips and what not.
|
that is a sweet 7 though
