Hey guys, My car is all better mechanically, so now im gettting

the rest of the car up to scratch. When I was pulling bits and pieces

apart I noticed that there was one of these weird things under each

vent, do you know what they are used for? or if you even need them?

Also, is there an online parts listing for FCs? So you can order spares

from mazda with the right part no.

They look like little air gasket type deals, they just prevent leakage of heat or a/c from the ducting...thats my guess...what vents did they go behind?

serpent12 01-15-2003 08:21 PM

These ones...

cymfc3s 01-15-2003 08:43 PM

they attach the defroster grill ducts to the dash. They usually break off, no big deal. The ducts usually stay in the general area of the hole in the dash, so your good.

those things are cheap

So what about at online parts list?

1Revvin7 01-15-2003 09:17 PM

define cheap. I've seen those for sale for what I would call a ripoff, so I've held off on getting them, and just settled for the gaping hole...any link to where they are cheap?

I dont think you understand, I dont care about the vents, just want to know if I need the other

things that go under the vent? (pic 1)

R45 01-16-2003 09:10 AM

just like rotoryman88 said they are to stop leaks in the vents. if you don't mind the leaks, then scrap them.

Baldy 01-16-2003 09:43 AM

I thought the bottom and top pieces where attached, and break easily. am I off here?

j9fd3s 01-16-2003 10:59 AM

yah, that thing is 2 pieces, but they are sold together as one piece. mazdatrix lists them for $13, thats cheap

Yea, he's right....I couldnt tell from the pics...you DO need those because they direct the defroster to your side windows for defrosting, lol...but they break VERY easily...and can be found at a junk yard or mazdatrix.

serpent12 01-16-2003 07:07 PM

Is mazdatrix gear new?

Rob x-7 01-16-2003 07:10 PM
