I have a 87 base with 4 lug diff im getting some kind of movement in the drive line it does in taking off from a stop, when in gear coasting when you let your foot off the gas and when in reverse. I have both solid engine mounts, and trans mounts the two small one that connects to the crossbeam hoping that it would help. I lifted it up at work couldn,t shake anything loose u-joint arnt sloppy. oh yea she has 86,000 miles probaly everything else is oe.

if you're sure it's not the u-joints, then it's probably a diff mount. i have a similar issue, and i have replacments of each, but haven't been able to replace them yet.



if you're looking for recommendations, i'd go with the mazdatrix comp mounts. then again, if you've already got solid motor and trans mounts, you might not have an issue going with the mazdatrix racing mounts https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif plus they're cheaper

I have broken the mount and the mount braket for the front of the diff.



Stick a braker bar at the nose of the diff and see if you can lift it. It should be snug.

Even easier, with you behind the car, look under the car with a buddy in the dirvers seat have him try to take off in first, with the hand brake up, if the diff moves ur **** be broke. Check the two 21mm nuts that hold the rear subframe in, I worked on my diff and didnt get them as tight as I though I did and it was moving around some.

Thanks yea it it moved alot would it be the front or the 2 rear mounts or both? I heard the front is a pain but you gota do what gota do. again thanks for everything.

dropping the diff takes some long extensions and flexible arms to get the front diff mount nuts off.

once you do it once, itll be easy every time after that.

un bolt the two 21mm nutts that hold the subframe in and take the 19mm bolt out that hols the camber rod in leave the struts on and support with a jack, lower the jack an inch or so at a time then pry the subframe down untill you can get to the two nutts that hold the front mount in, they are a 17mm take them off and set them aside (use caution they are not the same thread pitch as the others, take the 3 17mm nutts off that hold the mount to the diff, and then push the diff up with your hand untill you can slide it up and out, replace with new... reassemble and you are done.
