if it has anywhere near or over 100K miles, expect an engine rebuild in the near future.

also, most bushings will be shot, and the suspension in general might need to be upgraded.

the transmission/drivetrain probably wont be in the best running condition, but it should work, only expect to live/deal with some noise and strange sounds. if you have the time, knowhow, or money, i'd suggest rebuilding it.

replace the driveshaft, mine vibrates like crazy and shakes the whole car.

good luck finding an S5 (89-91) TII. turbo FC's are rare enough as it is, but a newer TII is even harder to find. i had to search for 3 months just to find a TII within 50 miles like what i wanted, and i had to settle for an S4.

as for milage, dont be picky. these cars are usually hit hard and pushed no matter the milage, so things are going to need to be replaced whether it's 90K or 160K. also, the with lower milage comes a much higher price, not necessarily woth it.

its weird but mine has no valves.... i think its a problem

milage is a concern just like any car....make sure you cahnge the oil and fluids like any normal car.... and keep it done the same way you would another engine.....

ur gas mileage might not be the best though

i have a 90 t2 and ... its lovely

the process goes a little something like this:

1. there is a wierd noise in the back end, and it doesn't handle well. change the shocks and springs, handles better, but the stiff suspension makes the noise louder. replace bushings, still noisy. replace hatch struts, still funny sounds, may be the muffler loose. keep trying...

2. the car doesn't idle right and hesitates, makes wierd popping noises. adjust TPS, replace TPS, check BAC, replace fuel filter, clean intake fuel filter. still runs funny, keep trying...

3. car stalls out, can't get started. try to unflood, wont run. replace plugs, do ATF trick, still nothing. finally check for spark, replace wires, finally runs, but still idles funny. keep trying...
