I think Mobil 1 is good ****. I use it in my other cars. Some swear that the only good synthetics are the ones that only race shops carry or you have to get online like Redline, Amsoil, etc. I don't know. Can't beat $18.88 for 5 quarts of Mobil 1 at WALMART!

If we wanted to get technical, the Workshop Manual states...

-20 - 32 degrees Farenheit= 5W-30

-10 - 90 degrees Farenheit= 10W - 30

-10 and up = 10W - 40, 10W - 50 (if it goes higher than 70 degrees)

20 and up = 20W - 40, 20W - 50

I use 20-50 personally. And is Mobil 1 considered "cheapy" oil? I love synthethic, but I hate spending 40 bucks every 3K mi, it gets a bit pricey.

one of the benefits of synthetic oil is you can leave it in the engine

for longer.

At 3,000 miles you should change the filter, and top the oil off, there is no

need to drain the oil and change it. Your throwing your money away. But the filter

itself still needs to be changed.

I did this on Town Cars in the early 90s, and those cars seen some abuse

with the odometers showing

100,000

200,000

300,000+ miles on them

So... Mobil 1, good or bad?

FCmaniac 10-05-2003 10:00 AM

I don't know man, you'll get all kinds of opinions on this. I think Mobil 1 is good yet I only use Castrol dino oil in my 7's just because I've been doing it for years. Another question would be why do the majority of RX-7 owners prefer Castrol over other dino oils? Is there some study saying its better?

I think its because Mazda uses Castrol from the factory.
