I am in need of help.....

before I took my 7 to the body shop it felt like it kept wanting to die at every stop... When I picked it up friday it wouldn't start....The only way we could get it on was push starting it and I had to keep it reved past 3k to keep it on......well yesterday we started to troubleshoot.....my air fuel meter kept reading lean so I started with fuel I replaced the filter and the pump is up to par but still the same problem ......and when I get it on (push starting) I don't smell any fuel making me think its the fuel and not the spark or air part of the equation..............

we ran outta daylight yesterday but my next point to check is the solenoid resistor and any ideas are very welcome....

and it also runs rough as hell when it does run ..but my timing wasn't off before I dropped it off and nothing was loose so I don't think its my timing and like I said before if it was my timing I would smell unburnt gas and there was none....

in short.....

you have a vacuum leak, what have u done to the car? did it just all of a sudden start this? If so it could be the Mass Air Flow Sensor. What i would do is goto Sears and buy the Craftsman Vacuum Pump, leak detector, it hooks up to a vac source and pumps air, then u can find your leak, i saw it last night and thought it was tight. If your cheap use a long piece of vac hose and probe, it will sound like a loud sucking sound. It works great.

I'll try checking the hoses tomorrow...My job doesn't really allow me too much time to do what I need.........but thanx for the ideas...

If it is my mass air flow...how can I test it?

More times then not, a bad MAF will give you an engine code. Try extracting the codes and see what you get.

at the risk of exposing my ignorance of rx7 electronics ....How the fluff do I "extract" the codes????

Jump to that site, they explain how to do it with only two LEDs and it's easy.
