Help me out, I'll never finish the GFH at this rate

Baldy 06-09-2003 11:58 AM

I'm not even sure what that means, but I like the sound of the pineapple w/ miata gears.

banzaitoyota 06-09-2003 12:01 PM

I have a BRAND new Pineapple Racing Engine sitting on the stand right now

Baldy 06-09-2003 12:08 PM

but what's a "sludgepump?"

1Revvin7 06-09-2003 12:14 PM

rebuild it, and use the good engine for a nice car.

banzaitoyota 06-09-2003 12:28 PM

Sludgepump is Banzai talk for an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Nemesis 06-09-2003 12:51 PM

sludgepump = slushbox

I say can it and throw in a 5 speed.

banzaitoyota 06-09-2003 01:47 PM

It is a foregone concluion I will trash the sludgepump. I have started calling it my "poor man's Tiptronic". I think I will finish prepping the Pineapples so I can break them in, whilst installed in the Base Beater.

pengaru 06-09-2003 03:34 PM

vosko 06-09-2003 04:14 PM

Have you considered cutting a hole in the floorboard and making like Fred Flintstone? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

It's bound to be the cheapest fix, and as long as you didn't have to do much interstate driving, might prove quite satisfactory...

the weight savings with the engine and tranny out would be amazing! I mean, those have to be at least 27 pounds!

Update:

Dropped the pan on the sludgepump last nite. It would have been good to have found only SLUDGE; however in addition to the usual expected efferfescence of metallic wear particles; I also found a large quantity of metallic chunks in the filter. The lock-up solenoid also has one of the leads ripped out of it.

I can drive it ALA Tiptronic method, so it will soon be history. I think I will start the beater 5-speed transplant this Thursday night.
