Alright, I heard that I might be able to remove my BAC, and i have the block-off plate for my AC&CV, but if i take off the AC&CV, then what do I do about the hose that runs into the side of it? Is there anything else I can remove, any hoses that aren't absolutely necessary? Trying to clean it all up as much as possible. Thanks.

if you take off the acv then you also need to take off the air pump. the other hose is the air pump "dump" tube its an exit

The hose running from up by my radiator is a dump? The air pump is gone already.

while on the subject, what are the differences with the block off with a s4 vs s5. My ACV is non-functional...and i have the pulley and block off plate sitting around. As in.....is the operation different? and what else needs to be blocked off? split air?

You can remoce the rats nest if you haven't already.Theres a thread in the FAQ section. The ACV and smog pump really clean it up after they are gone.Another thing you could look at doing is if you have power steering you could convert it to manual and pull the AC system out.

And to remove the BAC you should do the TB mod that is listed in the FAQ section too. While your playing under the hood to make it cleaner the TB mod does a number to the appearence as well.

How about the charcoal canister and cold start assist tank?

I've never though of removing those... i did however.. remove my Air conditioning... and power steering pump

I do recommend replacing the power steering rack with a manual unit. I didnt, and my forearms are HUGE! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png But seriously, it's drivable, but kind hard if you need to make a U-turn in traffic.

There is a rumor ( That just removing the P/S Pump.... eventually you can damage your steering rack )

Well, it's been like this for about a year now. No problems yet.

I did manage to clear up a WHOLE BOATLOAD of room on the drivers side of the engine bay.. looks great

Also dont have an air pump.. and soon to get headers. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

There is so much extra JUNK! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png that Mazda puts in along with these engines. By removing :

Power steering, A/C and the air pump unit alone, you can gain a small increase ( 1-2 HP ) because you dont have the load from those extra belts. If you race alot, or constantly rev at high RPMS... get a Dual Alt Belt Pully, of you will damage your water pump/belts...

also, think about purchasing a Battery relocator kit. ($50) or so at local auto parts... and move your battery to the passenger Storage Bin (behind seat)

And (sorry if i'm writing to much) if you really want to clear up some room in the engine... get a set of Weber carb's (Dual preferably) Imagin.. : Motor... Altenator...Carburator... that's about it.

I'm guessing an electric fan would free up some space, assuming it cools enough.
