What is the BAC valve for and is it needed to run properly. if not are there any special steps i have to take to remove it.

Shane.Trammell 09-09-2005 12:47 PM

It lets more air into the engine when there is a load on it like ac or a heavy electrical load. Some people run without them and some people run with them

Iy lets your car idle decently under any condition.

teknics 09-09-2005 02:14 PM

both my 7s idle perfectly with or without a load from A/C etc.

i dont have a BAC on either of them.

Thats nice, I'm sure they put them on to get in the way of mechanics working on them then.

BAC = Bypass Air Control(ler)

Electronically bypasses air past the throttle plates at idle

Idle is setup by the trottle plates, if the motor is "working" turning an AC compressor and spinning an alternator to power all your lights and wipers and defroster and blower motor all at once, the way the throttle plates are mechancally set, it won't compensate for the extra workload, so bypassing extra air past the throttle plates to bump the idle up back to normal is what it's for.

It all happens on the fly, you won't notice it doing it's thing while it's on there.

So it's up to you if you need it, but it's a factory piece that was there for a reason.

oh yes because stock is obviously the best way right?

QUICK everyone stop modifying your cars, theyre best left stock.

YOU can work on a clutter engine bay with 100x more things then are needed to have the car run properly, but i choose to make my car run properly with the least amount of clutter possible. Do you still have the rats nest and **** on your car? if so i feel so bad for you.

Cars come with **** like that because it provides the most comfort and least drama for the cheapest price in terms of mass production

no use arguing over who still has what on their car
