Yesterday I was greeted by an oil splotch on my driveway about the size of a silver dollar pancake. The spot was where my FC resided the previous night, so I decided to take a gander inside the ole gal to see where she sprung the leak. I was diggin around in the engine bay with a flashlight when I was greeted by a shining oil trail that was on my engine block. To be more specific, the oil looked like it was coming from the brackets where the AC compressor is attached to the engine block, and it ended up in a spot that was fairly close to the leading spark plug. I posted some pics; they aren't very good but they should at least give a vague description where the oil is coming from (or at least where I saw it to be). My question is does this mean rebuild time is coming soon, or can I just crank something down, or replace a front seal or something?

Thanks in advance!

you sure its not just the o-rings under your oil filter leaking

and running down to there?

I don't think it would weep all the way foward like that, possibly an oil cooler line that is cracked/pin-holed.

where he has it circled in the pic it looks to be right around the

spark plugs, thats where the oil goes from the O-rings.

I would say to clean the bitch up and take it from there.

Some cans of brake or carb cleaner and then run it and look.

Ok cool, I'm liking all of the responses so far. I think I will dig up some of that brake cleaner and just start spraying, go for a drive, and then see what I come up with. Sorry for the bad pics, but it wouldn't be from my oil filter. A front cover gasket is definately a possibility, along with the oil cooler hose. Either way its not flowing like Niagra so its not a HUGE problem, but definately one that I should try to rectify soon. Thanks for all of the input guys.

ya my car has been leaking oil since i've owned it, and is still running like a champ; so i don't think it's life or death.

If you look around the front pulley, the front main seal is notorious for leaking too. what might have happened is the seal leaked and your fan blew oil all over your block. mine was leaking so i replaced it when i changed my pulleys. Pretty easy job
