Can anyone tell me the function of the water
thermo sensor. Cause i broke mine and the auto parts stores do not know what I am talking about |
Where is this again? i get those darn sensors mixed up there are so many of them. Is it on your radiator or your dynamic chamber?
Take it in too them, it just unscrews and unplugs. If they still are dumbfounded take it to a mazda dealer. ( do that last though!) |
The water thermosensor is behind the water pump. It tells the ECU the coolant temperature. If you can't get the Mazda sensor then try Pep Boys. They sell one made by Borg Warner that works just fine.

Yes, it is behind the waterpump.
I have been having overheating problems. I changed the T-Stat, the fan clutch, the Radiator, and the waterpump. I seam to have cured the overheating, but sometime during these repair's I broke the water thermo sensor. now when the car is cold i have to crank it over for a few seconds before it starts then when it does start it reves up real high and then dies, it does this a few times before it stayes running. when it is warm it starts no problem. So I am hopeing that this broke sensor is the problem. Also the new radiator i put in has a rad cap and resivor hose, the car allready has these, so should I plug off the Resivor opening thats allready on car or the 1 on the new rad? |
You should always keep the one that is at the highest point because if it would have air in the system it'd stay there and then would be flushed out while the engine is warming up. Or keep them both using a tee fitting.
|
thank you, I was wondering if it would be okay to put in
a TEE. |
As long as you keep coolant in the tank so they can't suck up air instead of coolant when the engine is cooling. You have to anyway. :sigh:
|
The ECU gives the motor more fuel as the coolant temperature decreases. So right now your motor probably isn't getting enough fuel when it's cold.
|
OK Thank You. I was wandering why it was able to turn over
for more than a second and not flooding. Cause normally if the car doesn't start right away it floods. so i would say not enough fuel when cold, would be right on the money. once again I thank everyone for all the help. |
Does anyone know were I can posibly order this sensor
none of the auto parts store's in my area seam to have it. |
