Very strange issue, the top will open just fine, but will not close, no beeping, nothing. I have two switches, both won't work. It's very odd cause every one in a while it will work.

It's obviously something electrical, but where to start, it makes no sense to me.

The synchronizing sensor will shut off advancing transistors 1&2 and/or 3&4 until the arms are aligned and the forming bar is parallel, I think the problem might be in the relays, # 1&3 are used in the lowering operation. Check the right and left side connectors for voltage, graph should help;

So i am looking at 2 and 4 for raising it? Very strange that the damn thing is so random, just drove to the store, didn't work on the way there, did most of the way back. Fuggin bullshit.

I am a bit confused by the wiring. As far as I can tell the right motor contains the cpu, now, do both motors run the top up and down or the left up and the right down? That would see odd with the syncrhonizer.

In testing it from the plug up front, nothing works as should, even though the top is working fine on the way down.

Shouldn't there be a way to power the motors from the test block in the engine co? I would assume the switch is ok as I have two and both work the same, seems odd that they would both be fucked in the same manner.

I might know where to get a set of motors cheap, might snag them just in case.

As complicated as the system appears, it would seem fairly self contained within the switch, the motors and potentially the wires in between, although the intermittance would not be likel with a wiring issue.

play with the parkingbrake a little bit

can't be the parking brake it works flawlessly going down, just won't go up.

I didnt pay attention to that part where you said it goes down fine, lol

sorry!

Yeah, I screwed the pooch too, lol It's # 2 & 4 relays that control putting the top back up. The bible (FSM) says to check the cluster switch and/or repair harness, if they were anymore vague about it I would just use the pages for asswipe. Both motors work in both operations up and down and the syncro sensor makes sense of it all, it might even be the limit switch which is in each motor, if you can come up with both motors cheap it might fix the problem, (retail @ $795ea) but I wouldn't rule out some loose/bad wiring in the harness either.

Yea i ran the fsm checks, real useful.

I think I am going to get a pair of the motors, nice to have backups on cars as they are aging and parts are becoming harder to come by.

I assume it isn;t the switch as both are fucked. I'll replace the motors, then go from there, i hate electrical.
