Ok guys a Vert basically fell in my lap, and it is in decent shape minus a smacked front bumper, headlight and a fender.

What I need to know is if there are any specific items I should place close attention to on the car that are normally found only in the covertable models. For example bad switches, motors that grind, or other headaches you may have found in your ownership of the Vert.

The possible car is a 1988 5 speed, has 200k on the body, and unknown on a replaced engine.

Even small stuff to look for would be appreciated, please, only vert owners, or prior vert owners need to respond, I am not a newbie to the FC, just to the verts....

The frame rail right in front of the rear tire. If the top was ever ripped and left that way for any amount of time, the frame rails will rust there.

They leak, just check that the top/seals are in the best possible shape, also check/unplug drain pockets and tubes; more than likely the pockets have tears in them and the drain tubes can be partially or completely blocked.

Due to the more open top, you'll find that the carpet sometimes tends to shrink... at least mine did. The carpet does NOT go all the way to the sills in the kick area - misses by about 2cm. and that's getting annoying. Plus its missing the stapled plastic things that clip it to the side sills... check for rust underneath the carpet (especially in the ECU area - passenger side kick panel) from getting left out in the rain. Of course you've got the top motors to make sure they still work but those are fairly robust and I've not heard of them being a big problem with these cars. My switch for the top motors is another story though... its definitely intermittent, prompting me to keep a screwdriver in my car (to manually release the top from the motors) for those flash flood emergencies.
