I worked from sun up to 10pm today and i still feel like i got no where on it. Started by pulling manifolds off and scraping old gaskets ect. The new parts that were suppose to show today wont be here till tommorow night now so im about where i was when i started except its all apart a little more. I hope to have it running late tommorow night as long as i get no more delays. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

heres a "sneak preview" pic of it tonight before i came inside(manis just sitting there).

Work was cancelled on the vert today. It seems god hates me as he decided to give us rain and tornado warnings. Car will have to stay covered until they pass. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png I did get some good pics today though before i covered the car.

Today i was going to be putting in my custom intake that moves the AFM and filter back where the charcoal canister used to be, make a cold air box for that, make hood raisers for the back of the hood to allow cold air to get to the filter, and thats pretty much all i can remember right now.

Seppuku 02-25-2004 02:06 PM

It runs! Took some persuading to get it to go but it finaly did. All thats left is to finish up a few little things and get it on the road and see how she does. Might be a while to get it out the roads are all messed up and the vert cant go through the stuff.

Rob x-7 02-25-2004 07:27 PM

congrats!

the roads are messed up? what are they dirt?

Seppuku 02-25-2004 08:17 PM

yeah the house is right off of a dirt road and i dont really like going down it normaly so no way I'll attempt to now.

I should get around to that tommorow if all goes well but i still wont be able to run it until i get some vac line to go to the hard line behind the tb. So itll be a few days anyway.

rmaiersg 02-27-2004 11:59 AM

The manifold looks like titties!! Nice job.

FCmaniac 02-27-2004 03:18 PM

I like that intake idea. Let us know how it feels performance wise compared to before.

Shane.Trammell 02-27-2004 03:45 PM

if your ac is hooked up then heres what you need to do. when you make that cold air box you should have someone extend that silver ac line that runs at the top of the firewall so that line goes through the box. this will cool the box down whent the ac is on. otherwise i dont think moving that thing is gonna help and will prob hurt unless you put a hole in the back pass. side of the good.

Seppuku 02-27-2004 03:54 PM

i have the air flow covered. it will pull cold air from the back of the hood by the wind sheild.

how do you plan that one

Seppuku 02-27-2004 03:59 PM

For right now it will be done by lifting the rear of the hood a little. Later on i may switch to a different hood but that all depends on if i think the increase with this setup is worth it.

isamu 02-27-2004 05:54 PM

Looks pretty good. I think I would put some sort of heat shield over the exhaust to deflect some of the hot air. You can prop the hood up a little bit by just loosening the bolts and adjusting it up. I would think the best way to do it would be to have a small scoop molded into the hood over the intake facing the window. But I dont' know if cost vs. hp gains would really be worth it.

Dorifc3s 02-27-2004 06:03 PM

hey how do u make those hood raisers like Aerodyne ones? good work i like the red 13B injection!

Seppuku 02-27-2004 06:36 PM

Isamu - im planning on making a peice to block the filter off from the heat in the bay. I just havent gotten the time to do it yet. Lots of things going on right now and im doing a little of each everyday.

rmaiersg 02-27-2004 09:30 PM

Maybe you know this but there is a positive pressure differential where the hood and the windshield meet.

hey how do u make those hood raisers like Aerodyne ones

Take a piece of maybe 1/8"ish thick sheet of alumin and cut it to like 4"x1.5", for example, and then drill four holes corresponsding to the holes on the hood and the hinges. Depending on how far the holes on the top and the bottom are changes the height the hood will be raised.

I don't think you'll see any gains from that stock. Unless poosibly you have a setup up like Seppuku, if that even helps it.

Seppuku 02-27-2004 09:39 PM

well my setup mainly will increase response by shortening the intake line. Im not looking for any gains by colder air although i do figure it has to be better than it next to the rad. Ill find out soon when i get the extra clamps and stuff i need.

Seppuku 02-27-2004 09:41 PM

oh and on the raisers i think i measured from center to center on the bolts and it was 2 3/4"s. I'll be doing my set later im waiting to see if i like the new intake setup before i make specific parts just for it.

similar concept to a cowl hood. maybe the cone and mas could run parallel to the firewall, utilizing more of the cone's surface area. Interesting idea nonetheless.

depending on how well this works i may make a new tb elbow that comes out straight and just clamo straight to it. This is basicly just my test setup.

dont forget the long bolts to go with it, the correct metric size of course

I cant remember right, but I thought the bolts go in from the side a tiny bit?

I may be thinking of another car, mine is so far in the garage I cant even look, lol
