does it make sence to upgrade the stock coils. Ive heard that the stockers are awesome to begin with. Can you actually upgrade them, and will this change the way it runs, or its effecientcy?

the stock coils are good for 400+hp theres no point to upgrade em

I have also heard that the stock coils are good. Can you still upgrade your ignition and keep the coils?

I think a CDI box would fit in that questions.

I upgraded my coils, since the coils were not spec'n out according to FSM (well they were borderline). So i got two Crane Hi-6 boxes, two LX92 coils to control the leading plugs. Don't ask how good they work, because the 2nd CDI box isn't here yet, and it's snowing outside and there is no rear suspension no teh car.

As with the CDI box on stock coils, I didn't really notice much of a difference, I think i got 1 mpg more, but it ate up plugs quicker.

Really, that's odd. I noticed a immediate difference with my MSD 6A w/stock coils. Off the bat, the car started easier, plugs lasted longer & better gas mileage. As far as HP gains, nothing noticeable, but that's not a reason to use it.

On the tailing coils, didn't notice crap.

This was said, but the stocks coils are good units! Hell, I pulled the MSD Blaster 2 coils off the FB and installed the FC's. Bam!.... the FC coils owned the Blaster 2's. If you aren't making 400HP to the wheels or more, I don't see a reason to change em unless they go bad.

how do you tell which coil produces more spark? is there like a voltage rating towards coils?
