Eh, been a little while...so I thought I'd update. The car is still sitting while I'm awaiting on tax return, paychecks, etc to get here so I can finally get my car back on the road. It's tags are dead and I have to get it renewed with the DMV...I already had the insurance notified and readjusted my costs, blah blah..I'm looking at driving again now sometime before Easter, lol...I'm going to visit some family members in Ohio for Easter and I want to use that as a "break in" time for the motor....

...Also, I am going to be doing the suspension work shortly...whenever the tax return shows up. I'm thinking of doing KYBAGX's w/ intrax springs....haven't truely decided yet and I'm open to suggestions..I want LOW!! Anybody know of good somewhat cheap coilovers maybe that will offer a 1"+ drop??? No tein..thats later https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

13BAce 03-06-2002 06:10 PM

You could try Ground Control for the coilovers. They work well.

Rotaryman88 03-06-2002 06:28 PM

I've been trying to find them...where can I get 'em?

Ok...that's cool only $400...that ain't bad at all! Um...quick ? though...would I still need to buy the shocks? It says something about using only w/ KONI shocks for some of the applications...are the coilovers a direct replacement for the stock spring/shock setup?

You'll need new shocks. They work with both Konis and Tokicos, but they should work with the AGX"s as well.

Lowering springs? Tokico- about $200 for set of 4, Suspension Techniques $229 /4, Eibach $329-$349. All give you about a 1" drop.

JC Whitney sells the ST springs for $160. I'm using them on my car, and they do a good job.

Rotaryman88 03-06-2002 08:19 PM

Do the STs give a good drop though? I would like a 1" or better..is the drop noticeable..I'm doing this for looks because I have a big wheel gap in the rear w/ my 16 wheels and 50 series sidewalls...I just might go w/ those ground controls though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Yes, they drop the car about an inch.

Rotaryman88 03-06-2002 09:07 PM

Do you happen to have a pic of your 7 w/ the STs?

The convertibles sit a little bit lower in the rear than coupes.

Rotaryman88 03-06-2002 10:04 PM

Is that your driveway, lol? Damn...thats a bunch of nice rotaries! I like the color of your vert too....what is it?

Also, what wheels do you have it?

I'm looking at my Summit catalog, it's got Intrax springs in it, and that will give you a 1 3/4" drop. Plus they are only $189.95. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Rotaryman88 03-07-2002 03:41 PM

Yea...I initially thought of intrax, but I've heard that they are a rough ride...dunno yet...

OKIERX-7 03-07-2002 04:19 PM

yeah I heard intrax suck too

I think that my car has already been dropped a little over an inch, but another inch would be nice. I'll just need to be on pothole alert. :p

WIth those 285/18's, youll need to be on quarter panel alert as well, remember those things are like $900 a panel, and book time is something like 16 hours A SIDE! The front fenders on the other hand are more expendible, lol

I don't have any rubbing anymore because I got the fenders rolled some more. You can get use quarters cheap and just weld everything together and grind the welds. It's MUCH cheaper and quicker.

I scrape like a mofo, and I have the stock springs, I've thought about lowering my car, but I think I'd rip off my exhaust.

Your stock springs are probably worn out.

< I would say so, I still have stock springs, and with 225/40/17 I dont scrape one bit. You sure its not your tires scraping your exaust? Got to be carefull with that ****, is your heat shielding still where its supposed to be next to the muffler? Check it if its getting banged up.

Yeah, the muffler heat shileds can rub the tires if they're bent a little.

The exhaust is scraping, right now I have the stock exhaust on, and I don't scrape. I had to bend the heat shield around the mufflers after I put on the duals. After I put it back on I will try and hang it a little higher, and see if that helps.

13BAce, did you use TII or NA springs to lower your car. I was told that because I have a vert (and they are much heavier than a NA coupe) to use TII springs. Just wanted to get your $.02. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I believe that stock TII and convertible springs are the same. I'm using Suspension Techniques springs on my convertible, and I don't have a problem with bottoming out. That's with Tokico Illuminas set on 5. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

True, they call the convertible and TII heavy duty suspension, both with the 5 lug wheels and 4 pistons calipers. Hey CABRIO- looks like youll be muffler shopping soon, lol.
