Only the following FCs had a LSD from the factory:
86-88 GXL
87-91 T2
88 GTU
89-90 GTUs (however not the 89-90 GTU)
You can also tell by looking at the differential as there will be a LSD tag on S4 cars with a LSD.

was there an '89 gxl?? i just bought the car for the tailights, 5-lug and exhuast and hopefully lsd... he jus said its an 89 gxl and i said ok ill take it. did the gxl's turn into gtu's?? how do i tell what it is... it has the aero mirrors, rear wing, 5-lug, 4 piston calipers, rear cargo boxes, electronically adjustable sport suspension, security switch, power mirrors, sunroof, cruise control, rear wiper... and its an N/A of course, and the car is white with blue interior if that tells anything, i know blue interiors are sorta rare. in the door its says 03/89 so obviously it was made in march of 89...
so tell me what model that is or how to find out how to tell what model it is and if it does have lsd, it is and s5 and has no lsd tag on the rear end... it would be on the drain bolt right? or the filler bolt? all i looked at was the drain bolt... and the car is un-modded, and 100% bone stock

Hold up i have a 87 GXL, with rear wiper, sunroof, power window/mirrors and AAS. I think my GXL was one of those Mid year models...
IM sorry i never seen a RX-7 w/o a rear windshield wiper. Or a sunroof for that matter. I have 3 RX-7 , 87 GXL, 88 SE and 89 GTU and they all have rear wipers and sunroofs

my buddy has a base model with none of that... and i got an 86 that ive basically converted to an s5, with a sunroof... no AAS and no rear wiper... and i got the 89 with all that bullsh$t fully loaded... man i ghtought the 89 would have lsd... oh well... anyone need parts??? the 89 has to be parted out quick
