Warning, it may sound like im a retard, just let it go.

So i went to take off the dashpot becuause in my head i was thinking it would help me shoot bigger flames and i have been wanted to do the throttle body mod anyway so i would take it off and evaluate the throttle body. Well i took it off and it woudln't idle, it would just die when i let it idle so i put it back on but it still did it. So as a temp fix the throttle cable is tighter so now it idles at like 3500 RPM. What did i screw up.

Did you mess around with the TPS at all?Get rid of your cat if you want bigger flames.

Did you disconnect the MAS?

You seem to have more than one setting out of wack.

Going through the full idle setting procedure will fix you idle.

The dash pot makes the last part of the throttle close slow.

To get more afterburn, put the dash pot back on to briefly hold the throttle off the idle fuel cut when decelerating.

There are sone other factors like the ACV, the air pump, the cats, & the TPS that also affect afterburn.

So the dashpot i need for more afterburn? Also, i have no cats, i have racing beat true duals.

Yup.

Have you checked out the idle set information in the manuals?

I looked briefly over it in my haynes manual. I leave in a day for about a week so i am going to have to do it all when i get back. Are there any other tricks for bigger flames. I know flames can be too much show but they are fun.

Basic mods for max afterburn:

Delete cats.

Delete ACV & air pump.

Set the dash pot for a little more time for idle let down.

Set the TPS value a little high (about 1200 Ohms or 1.2 volts).

If you have an AFC, set it a little rich.

Heat wrap the exhaust manifold & head pipe, so it stays nice & hot.

And - of course - increase your gas budget.
