Is there anyway to get rid of the ugly mechanical fan cooling system and put in some sort of more subtle electrical cooling system?

thanks

yeah.... remove the mechanical one...install shorter bolts to hold the pulley assembly on. then install a normal elec fan... should be a very straight forward procedure.

Other than looks... why do you want to do it? The mech fan is pretty reliable.

Yeah the mechanical fan is very reliable, but if the engines running wicked hot and i stop at a light ant let the car idle the rpm's that the fan spins at isn't fast enough to cool the engine, cuase it spins at a certain speed and starts and stops at certain intervals. if i put in an electric one i could keep it spining at a higher rev end keep it going until the engine cooled.

like if i hooked up a dual electric FAL setup

The OEM fan setup is much more efficeint than than average electric fan install. This subject has been discussed at length. There are also electrical system shortcomings to fix to cope with the increased load on the system by an electric fan. Please search.

Also,

It sounds like your mech fan isn't working, even at idle it's supposed to keep the engine cool, the fluid inside the clutch heats up and causes it to start spinning but when its cool it just free spins on the pulley...

Not 100% Accurate, but a brief explanation of the mech fan...MUCH better than any eletrical fan unless your mech fan is BROKE.
