Hello all, I am new to rotary engines and to the forums. I used to own an RX-7 first gen back in my highschool days but when I went to college I parted with it. Now i am looking to go back to my beloved car but looking for a second gen. I was wondering what were the types of second gens and the benefits or differences in each. I heard about the Savanna but I can not find any information on it or the others. So if you guys know all the models that came out i would gladly appreciate it if you could inform me so I can know what 2nd gen I am looking for! Thanks! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Depends on where you live.
If you live in the US there's, GTU, GTUs, GXL, base, sport, and TurboII. |
wow, Lee is an afficianado(sp)

Off the top of my head the japan/savannah models i can remember are GT-X, and GT-R.

Thanks.. What are the main differences between the GTUs, GTU, GXL, GSL, and the 10th anniversity edition 1988 i believe.. Performance and looks wise. BTW I live in the US.

it breaks down like this
usa models 86-87 base: has 4 lugs wheels, can be totally stripped or with sunroof/ac/ps sport: base with 5 lugs and 4 piston brakes gxl: has everything turbo: like gxl but with the turbo engine 88 se replaces base model, usually with a sunroof and ac/ps gtu replaces sport, gains t2 seats 10ae added, its a white t2 with black leather the vert debuts 89-90 gtu = base model, all have 5 lug, gtu has 1 piston brakes up front gtus = 88gtu for 89, no sunroof, turbo wheels 4.3 rear 91 coupe = gtu from 89 coupe a package = gxl coupe b package = gxl with leather jdm models 86-91 gt limited = steel wheels, manual windows etc gtx = 15" alloys, ???? gtr = like our t2, fully loaded efini = special seats, no radio, no ac, 16" bbs wheels i'm not 100% on my jdm models as its hard to tell without a brochure or something mike |
I thought the only type of FC was TurboII, and all the other ones weren't considered FCs.

lol @ Cheers! Even I knew there was more than the TII and base models..
|
Thanks I appreciate the help! Now I just gotta find me a nice turbo GTU or a 10th anniversity. =)

on another note, the year range 86-88 are called S4 FC's, whereas the 89-91 are called S5 FC's.
the s5's have more hp in both the NA and turbo models. however, turbo II s5's are extremely hard to find. most people just buy an s4 and spend the extra money they would have spend on an s4 on performance upgrades and s5 tail lights. i did. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
