It would be a waste of my time, unless people were willing to pay $10-15K. The bidding there is up to $7600, but let's see if anyobody pays.

phinsup 10-14-2002 12:31 PM

7600 and the reserve is not even met? Holy crap!

RX7Aggie 10-14-2002 12:54 PM

thats a nice car. man, but i'm not the biggest fan of convertables. i just dont think they look as good. either way, one sharp looking car. well worth the price if they have all documentation to prove the upgrades.

There's a reason why you can't find any good RX-7's: e-bay and autotrader suck. Does that car even have the turbo transmisison, etc?

Its the labor, you can say the same thing about a N/A versus a TII, its not the price of the engine and what not, its the labor putting it all in. ECU, drivetrain, etc.

I actually find N/A and verts bidding really low on ebay all the time, I doubt the people even end up selling them.

Rob x-7 10-14-2002 01:18 PM

I emailed the guy to satisfy my curiousity.

j9fd3s 10-14-2002 01:37 PM

i'm getting a 91 coupe for $500 and i might just put in a t2 motor, but just the motor no tranny.

Yeah, that's why it wouldn't be worth the effort to convert them and sell them. Nobody wants to pay for labor because they all say "I could do that if I wanted to." That's what people say to me at the gym too...sure! :smirk:

Those NA transmissions have a hard time dealing with the stock 160 HP and 140 lb-ft of torque.

Is the motor still good in the car? If you're going to swap I may be interested in it.

Rob x-7 10-14-2002 02:52 PM

I bet the rear end would hold out for a bit, if you did a TII engine, tranny, and got a custom end on the driveshaft made. As long as you didnt dump the clutch from a stand still, I bet the rear would hold out for a while.

its got a blown water seal, its so bad that if you take the radiator cap off the engine has no compression

Rob x-7 10-14-2002 03:42 PM

I got his response, the drivetrain isnt a TII drivetrain, and he has reciepts for the engine.

i figure if the miata guys run 12's and you can run a streetport 13bt on the auto, than the na tranny should be fine for a stock t2 motor
